Activity-coefficient data at infinite dilution often provide an excellent method for obtaining binary parameters as shown, for example, by Eclcert and Schreiber (1971) and by Nicolaides and Eckert (1978). Unfortunately, such data are rare. [Pg.43]

Figure 5 shows the isothermal data of Edwards (1962) for n-hexane and nitroethane. This system also exhibits positive deviations from Raoult s law however, these deviations are much larger than those shown in Figure 4. At 45°C the mixture shown in Figure 5 is only 15° above its critical solution temperature. Again, representation with the UNIQUAC equation is excellent. Predictions for the other isobaric systems (experimental data of Sinor, Steinhauser, and Nagata) show good agreement. Excellent agreement is obtained for the system carbon tetrachlor-ide-methanol-benzene, where the binary data are of superior quality. [Pg.55]

To illustrate calculations for a binary system containing a supercritical, condensable component. Figure 12 shows isobaric equilibria for ethane-n-heptane. Using the virial equation for vapor-phase fugacity coefficients, and the UNIQUAC equation for liquid-phase activity coefficients, calculated results give an excellent representation of the data of Kay (1938). In this case,the total pressure is not large and therefore, the mixture is at all times remote from critical conditions. For this binary system, the particular method of calculation used here would not be successful at appreciably higher pressures. [Pg.59]

The ternary diagrams shown in Figure 22 and the selectivi-ties and distribution coefficients shown in Figure 23 indicate very good correlation of the ternary data with the UNIQUAC equation. More important, however, Table 5 shows calculated and experimental quarternary tie-line compositions for five of Henty s twenty measurements. The root-mean-squared deviations for all twenty measurements show excellent agreement between calculated and predicted quarternary equilibria. [Pg.76]

The sum of the squared differences between calculated and measures pressures is minimized as a function of model parameters. This method, often called Barker s method (Barker, 1953), ignores information contained in vapor-phase mole fraction measurements such information is normally only used for consistency tests, as discussed by Van Ness et al. (1973). Nevertheless, when high-quality experimental data are available. Barker s method often gives excellent results (Abbott and Van Ness, 1975). [Pg.97]

The progressive cavity pump consists of a rotating cork-screw like sub-surface assembly which is driven by a surface mounted motor. Beam pump rods are used to connect the two. The flowrate achieved is mainly a function of the rotational speed of the subsurface assembly. There Is in principle very little that can go wrong with progressive cavity pumps. Progressive cavity pumps excel in low productivity shallow wells with viscous crude oils and can also handle significant quantities of produced solids. [Pg.231]
