Excel finest

Alex Keller s The Infancy of Atomic Physics Hercules in His Cradle (1983) is one of the finest such studies. Emilio Segre s From X-Rays to Quarks Modern Physicists and Their Discoveries (1980) is another excellent history, one that also focuses on the personalities of the physicists. 

The finest memorial to the first secretary of the Faraday Society is the maintenance of the General Discussions at the highest level of excellence. Wherever physical chemistry is prosecuted, wherever students are acquiring physicochemical science, there the record of the discussions which Secretary Spiers initiated and organized for so many years will be found indispensable. 

You may be familiar with Richard Dawkins s books The Selfish Gene and The Blind Watchmaker, and may perhaps have learned most of what you know about evolution, particularly the evolution of behavior, from these excellent sources. His second book. The Extended Phenotype, is less well known, and that is a pity, because in many ways it is his finest achievement. Nonetheless, even the most lucid books contain some obscure passages, and you could weU have been puzzled by a couple of pages of The Extended Phenotype that deal will the theory of modifier genes, which R. A. Fisher proposed in 1930 to explain why the phenotypes of some genes are dominant whereas others are recessive, phenotype being a technical term for the specific set of observable characteristics that indicate the presence of a particular variant of a gene. 

Another major contribution of Professor Atta-ur-Rahman is the establishment of H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, a centre of excellence in natural product chemistry. He was entrusted with the task of the planning and building this Centre which he has done admirably, first as Co-Director and later as Director, and he has succeeded in putting together one of the finest products. It is therefore in the fitness of things that this institute is now known worldwide, not only because of the many books which Professor Atta-ur-Rahman has written or edited are published internationally, but also because of the excellent research articles published from H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi. This has been possible because of the excellent research facilities (5 superconducting NMR spectrometers, 6 mass spectrometers, X-ray etc.) in the institute, quite unique for a third world country.

Since silicate and aluminum silicate minerals are widely available, they are inexpensive and form the backbone of the traditional high-volume products of the ceramic industry. Their abundance also explains why earthenware products are found in nearly every part of the world. The situation is very different with regard to kaolinite, the essential ingredient, along with feldspar and quartz, needed to make porcelain, by far the finest and most highly prized form of ceramic. Kaolin deposits are more localized. There are excellent deposits, for example, in southwest England. In the United States most kaolin comes from the southeast between central Georgia and the Savannah River area of South Carolina.

This range is abbreviated B4 C7. The key portion of the spreadsheet uses the Excel function FINEST to compute the least-squares parameters in cells B10 C12. 

Dynamic microphones are the real workhorses of the professional world. They are rugged and reliable, not particularly temperamental, and they do not require a powered impedance-conversion circuit (as condenser types do).
