Excel running

An effective but simple way of graphically illustrating the variability associated with the analytical data is to plot x—y plots of the duplicate and replicate pairs. Most statistical packages will have an option for plotting simple x—y plots. The G-BASE project uses MS Excel running a macro that will automatically plot duplicate-replicate and duplicate-duplicate results. Figure 5.8 shows three examples from the G-BASE East Midlands atlas area duplicate-replicate data for soils. This method gives an immediate visual appreciation of any errors present in an analytical batch and an indication of within site variability, as shown by the duplicate pairs, or the within sample variability, as indicated by the replicate pairs that demonstrate... [Pg.105]

BURCO FINISH 55 has excellent running properties and will not present roll and clip build-up problems. It can be added directly to the finishing bath in an amount sufficient to produce the hand desired. [Pg.111]

CNC PADDING EMULSION AWK is suggested for cotton and poly-ester/cotton blends. The product has excellent running properties and produces excellent color fastness when properly used. CNC PADDING EMULSION AWK has good compatibility with most finishing compounds. [Pg.143]

CNC PAD BINDER PO-63 is used to increase wash fastness on cotton and polyester/cotton fabrics. This product produces a very soft hand and has excellent running properties. [Pg.143]

DANFIRM VA is used primarily in finishing baths for fabric stiffening. It is a very efficient and economical hand builder. It tends to produce a stiff, full leathery hand as opposed to the thin, crisp hand produced by polyvinyl alcohol and starch derivatives. Being nonionic in nature, it is highly compatible with a wide variety of resins, softeners, catalysts and other finishing bath components. DANFIRM VA has excellent running properties and will not present roll and clip build-up problems. [Pg.225]

The excellent run-to-run reproducibility allows a straightforward scale-up of the ALE process. Figure 11 presents the scale-up of the ZrCL reaction on silica from 10 g to 1 kg [8]. [Pg.730]

In the late 1950s the research director of our laboratory was not yet convinced of the usefulness of NMR spectroscopy. Consequently, we had no such instrumentation of onr own. Fortunately, the Dow laboratories in Midland just 100 miles away had excellent facilities run by E. B. Baker, a pioneer of NMR spectroscopy, who offered his help. To... [Pg.77]

Mechanical Face Seals This type of seal forms a running seal between flat precision-finished surfaces. It is an excellent seal against leakages. The seahng surfaces are planes perpendicular to the rotating shaft, and the forces that hold the contact faces are parallel to the shaft axis. For a seal to function properly, there are four sealing points ... [Pg.940]

Employee Participation Preparation for startup is an excellent opportunity to document employee participation. If a toller is covered under the OSHA PSM regulation, they must record PHA participants, procedure writers and reviewers, PSSR team members and test run team members. All these roles reflect the true intent of this element of process safety. Eveiyone benefits from intimate involvement in the management system used to protect life and health. [Pg.102]

This chapter lists some representative examples of biochemicals and their origins, a brief indication of key techniques used in their purification, and literature references where further details may be found. Simpler low molecular weight compounds, particularly those that may have been prepared by chemical syntheses, e.g. acetic acid, glycine, will be found in Chapter 4. Only a small number of enzymes and proteins are included because of space limitations. The purification of some of the ones that have been included has been described only briefly. The reader is referred to comprehensive texts such as the Methods Enzymol (Academic Press) series which currently runs to more than 344 volumes and The Enzymes (3rd Edn, Academic Press) which runs to 22 volumes for methods of preparation and purification of proteins and enzymes. Leading referenees on proteins will be found in Advances in Protein Chemistry (59 volumes. Academic Press) and on enzymes will be found in Advances in Enzymology (72 volumes, then became Advances in Enzymology and Related Area of Molecular Biology, J Wiley Sons). The Annual Review of Biochemistry (Annual Review Inc. Patio Alto California) also is an excellent source of key references to the up-to-date information on known and new natural compounds, from small molecules, e.g. enzyme cofactors to proteins and nucleic acids. [Pg.504]

For viscosity or sag control. When the rubber base adhesive is applied on a vertical surface, addition of a filler prevents the adhesive from running down the wall. In solvent-borne formulations, fumed silica can be used as anti-sag filler. In water-borne systems, clays impart yield stress and excellent sag control. [Pg.629]

NBR adhesives can be used at temperatures between 170°C and —40°C. Bond strength can run above 7 MPa and can provide structural bond to many substrates. Even without curing, NBR adhesives show excellent resistance to organic compounds, acids and alkalis. [Pg.658]

These values predict a value of -34.0 kcal moT for AH . This value is in excellent agreement with experiment (-34.0 2.0 kcal mol). Note that we didn t need to run a frequency job on Li, but rather computed the enthalpy correction as 2 RT (just a translational component). [Pg.185]

H2Sil2, CDCI3, —42°, 1-10 min, 100% yield. Aromatic ketals are cleaved faster than the corresponding aliphatic derivatives, and cyclic ketals are cleaved more slowly than the acyclic analogues, such as dimethyl ketals. Substituted ketals such as those derived from butane-2,3-diol, which react only slowly with Mc3SiI, can also be cleaved with H2Sil2. If the reaction is run at 22°, ketals and acetals are reduced to iodides in excellent yield. [Pg.319]

Thermal power plant is more commonly associated with very large central power stations. The capital cost for thermal power plant, in terms of cost per installed kilowatt of electrical generating capacity, rises sharply for outputs of less than some 15 MW. It is for this reason that thermal power plant is not usually considered for industrial applications unless it is the combined cycle or combined heat and power modes. However, for cases where the fuel is of very low cost (for example, a waste product from a process such as wood waste), then the thermal power plant, depending on output, can offer an excellent choice, as its higher initial capital cost can be offset against lower running costs. This section introduces the thermal power cycle for electrical generation only. [Pg.180]

Simple mixtures—like in alkyl sulfosuccinates—can be run using only one solvent. For more complex systems (e.g., ethoxylated fatty alcohol sulfosuccinates) a gradient technique is strongly recommended Technical mixtures of disodium laureth sulfosuccinate could be separated [68]. The separation was so effective that resolution of single homologs of ethoxylates was possible. The detection limit of this method lies at around 0.5 pg. Therefore reverse phase ion pair chromatography seems to be an excellent tool to analyze sulfosuccinates directly without the use of any kind of manipulation. [Pg.516]

It is seen that, although the dimensions and particle sizes may not be precisely matched, all three columns are of a size closely similar to those commercially available with, perhaps, the exception of the long high efficiency column. The small 3 cm column is excellent for the preliminary assessment of a sample. As a result of its size it does not use large volumes of solvent and can be quickly reconditioned after a separation in readiness for the next run. It is very convenient for choosing the best phase system in method development. The other columns would be chosen on a basis of the efficiency required to separate the critical pair in the reduced chromatogram of the sample for analysis. [Pg.116]
