Reactions in porous catalyst pellets are Invariably accompanied by thermal effects associated with the heat of reaction. Particularly In the case of exothermic reactions these may have a marked influence on the solutions, and hence on the effectiveness factor, leading to effectiveness factors greater than unity and, In certain circumstances, multiple steady state solutions with given boundary conditions [78]. The s-wave contribution to the photo ionization from the 3a3p level is plotted in figure 3 and shows a quite satisfactory gauge invariance. Its peak value is in excellent agreement with that yielded by our previous STOCOS ealeulations, 346 Mb (3). 

It transpires that most classes of monodentate ligands include members that are able to induce high enantioselectivity in the hydrogenation of the two benchmark substrates 52 a and 53 a.
