Plan development

Plot plans are generally developed in stages, from the initial concept to the ftilly dimensioned document at the construction issue stage. 

The proposal plot plan, shown in Exhibit 3-1, is developed during the estimate phase of the projea and is used to estimate bulk materials. It is also included in the proposal as a representation of the unit arrangement to the prospeaive client. The proposal plot plan is based on limited information and generally indicates only the principal items of equipment, main supporting facilities, and overall dimensions. 

After contraa award, the proposal plot plan is updated to suit the latest information and is reviewed and approved by the client. This document becomes the basis for the plant layout phase of the projea and is called the planning plot plan. A sample planning plot plan is shown in Exhibit 3-2. On completion of the plant layout phase—when all the equipment has been sized and is in the best position to suit the projea requirements and when all access roads, buildings, and pipe tacks have been located—the plot plan is finally issued for construction. Ihis is illustrated in Exhibit 3-3 as the construaion plot plan. 

To develop a plot plan, the designer must assemble the information discussed in the following sections. 

The equipment list This document lists all the items of equipment and buildings by number and description to be included within the unit battery limits. A sample equipment list is given in Exhibit 3-4.

After the preceding considerations have been taken into account, a test plan is developed to best meet the goals of the program. This might involve one of the standard plans developed by statisticians. Such plans are described in various texts (Table 1) and are considered only briefly here. Sometimes, combinations of plans are encountered, such as a factorial experiment conducted in blocks or a central composite design using a fractional factorial base. 

Master plan development for PTPM. A master plan must be created. Total condition monitoring equipment should be designed, and equipment should be purchased. 

When using the defect-detection approach to quality control certain problems develop. Inspection does nothing to improve the process and is not very good at sorting good-from-bad. The continuing care plan, developed prior to discharge from treatment into aftercare, is constructed with the different spheres and zones of recovery in mind. The ultimate goal of the continuing care plan is to help the client move into this new phase of recovery as seamlessly as possible. So, like the treatment plan (remember Chapter 4), the continuing care plan should be comprehensive but not overly intrusive, should be simple enough to follow, and should be developed collaboratively with the client prior to discharge.
