Plan development schedule

Once you have developed the program plan and schedule, and estimated resource requirements, you should organize this information in a manageable form for presentation to your PSM sponsor. If you have kept management informed about your progress you should have a clear idea of what is expected in terms of form, content, and level of detail. A sample table of contents for a project plan appears as Figure 5-12, and Figures 5-13 and 5.14 provide additional detail on selected portions of the plan. 

By now your PSM system has been developed, tested, and fine-tuned, and you have planned and scheduled its installation. Once more, it s time to sell. This time around, selling PSM should be easier— you have a tangible "product," with specific benefits. You tdso—Abased on the test pilot—should have some satisfied customers. 

The CPM was developed for the express purpose of applying computers to construction planning. However, it is equally as effective when used manually. This method has been well tested and it works. The CPM utilizes the contractor s knowledge, experience and practical ability in a common-sense manner to plan and schedule construction. 

While preventive maintenance is concerned with regularly testing, and reconditioning equipment to prevent failures in service and premature deterioration, it follows that predictive maintenance procedures are concerned with the ability to predict when the equipment will fail and then developing schedules to implement timely repairs. Predictive maintenance does not imply that with the use of these techniques, failure modes in equipment can be prevented rather, it suggests that the occurrence of failure can be predicted and thus planned for. An appropriate example would be the inspection and change of a major compressor face-type oil seal where random heat checking (FM) has been observed over the years.

The project execution plan and master project schedule developed by the Owner s Project Manager during the initial project stages (Chapter 9) set the basis and execution logic for the entire project and, normally, are all that is needed to execute small projects.
