When using the defect-detection approach to quality control certain problems develop. Inspection does nothing to improve the process and is not very good at sorting good-from-bad. Also, sampling plans developed to support an acceptable quality level (AQL) of 5%, for example, say that a company is content to deliver or reject 5% defects. 

Another external response to concerns about MCOs has been an increased interest in measuring the quality of care they deliver [35]. This interest has resulted in the development of numerous quality indicators. One example, HEDIS (Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set), is a standardized set of performance indicators used to compare health plans. Developed by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, HEDIS measures allow employers and employees to evaluate different plans. Only a small number of HEDIS indicators are related to medication use, but more drug-related indicators are likely to be added in the future. The use of quality indicators likely will increase as the measures become more refined and tested. 

Sensitivity analysis is used to identify and quantify project characteristics that are major factors in the expected value of a project/ and is one of the most powerful tools of modern portfolio management. Sensitivity analyses serve two goals. The first goal is to identify the project characteristics that were used to determine the project value/ the so-called value drivers/ and ensure that the project plan developed by the project team solidly supports these value drivers. For example/ a value driver for a potential sedative hypnotic might be that it has no potentiation or interaction with alcohol. Because much of the value of this project depends on this product characteristic/ the project team will plan to assess this expected value driver as early as possible in the development cycle. 

During the preparation of the allocation plan, the Czech Republic, similarly to other Member States, used as guidance a document prepared by the European Commission.2 The aim was to develop a clear and transparent allocation plan draft for discussion at both the domestic and EU level. As the structure of the guidance document was generally complied with, the allocation plan was comparable to other allocation plans (for example the Irish one). 

Within a given discipline, certain categories of systems tend to arise sooner and others later. For example, systems for design and plan development arise early while training systems tend to be later to develop. 

Chemistry will play a large role in the research areas of our own strategic plan. For example, work on particulate matter will allow us to understand the nature of the particles and their behavior in the atmosphere, develop the modeling that will predict their fate and transport along with the resulting human exposure, and understand the transition from exposure to dose that will enable health assessment work.

The first plant layout operation is to understand and develop the plant arrangements around major pieces of equipment and sub-units of process plant, with particular attention to the shape and size of footprint and the relative positions of main interfaces, especially points at which process materials enter and leave. These sub-units are then combined into an overall block plan development, and when this is acceptable the whole may be further developed into more detailed layouts. Figures 10.1 and 10.2 are examples of finally developed block plan and layout.
