Quality indicators

Contrast Sensitivity S For this purpose a test piece is used whose least material thickness to be resolved in the video signal corresponds to the contrast sensitivity. The test piece can be a step/hole image quality indicator as per EN 462-2. [Pg.438]

In general, the performance of a radioscopic system should always be checked via test pieces with natural flaws. To ensure an additional comparability, standardized image quality indicators have to be used to control the essential image quality parameters such as spatial resolution (unsharpness) and contrast sensitivity. [Pg.438]

The quality grading system relates to uniformity of distribution across the tower cross-section, where 100% quality indicates ideal uniform distribution. Distributors are designed to suit the system, particularly the packing type and size. [Pg.268]

NOTE Compare this with similar problems in CW systems—those of easily and accurately (and at low-cost) determining levels of microbiological contamination. In most CW systems, apart from a general maintenance quality indicator, the levels of bulk water planktonic organisms tend to have little relevance to sessile organism-biofilm reactions occurring at the metal-water interface. [Pg.441]

British panel. Note that the sensory attributes are to some extent different. Table 35.3 gives some information on the country of origin and the state of ripeness of the olives. Finally, Table 35.4 gives some physico-chemical data on the same samples that are related to the quality indices of olive oils acid and peroxide level, UV absorbance at 232 nm and 270 nm, and the difference in absorbance at wavelength 270 nm and the average absorbance at 266 nm and 274 nm. [Pg.308]

List the quality indicators of care for myocardial infarction and explain the rationale behind each indicator. [Pg.83]

Twenty to 40 percent of patients presenting with STE ACS receive fibrinolysis compared with 7% receiving primary PCI.26,27 Therefore, many patients do not receive early reperfusion therapy. The primary reason for lack of reperfusion therapy is that most patients present more than 12 hours after the time of symptom onset.27 The percentage of eligible patients who receive reperfusion therapy is a quality indicator of care in... [Pg.96]

In general, early pharmacotherapy of NSTE ACS (Fig. 5-3) is similar to that of STE ACS with three exceptions (1) fibrinolytic therapy is not administered (2) glycoprotein Ilb/IIIa receptor blockers are administered to high-risk patients for medical therapy as well as to PCI patients and (3) at this time, there are no standard quality indicators for patients with NSTE ACS who are not diagnosed with MI. [Pg.99]

Another external response to concerns about MCOs has been an increased interest in measuring the quality of care they deliver [35]. This interest has resulted in the development of numerous quality indicators. One example, HEDIS (Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set), is a standardized set of performance indicators used to compare health plans. Developed by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, HEDIS measures allow employers and employees to evaluate different plans. Only a small number of HEDIS indicators are related to medication use, but more drug-related indicators are likely to be added in the future. The use of quality indicators likely will increase as the measures become more refined and tested. [Pg.805]

The final consideration in operationalizing a taxon is the number of indicators. Generally, greater numbers are preferred. MAXCOV requires at least three indicators and simulations suggest that three may work reasonably well, but this number is far from ideal. In a large simulation study, Beauchaine and Beauchaine (2002) found that an increase in indicator numbers from three to four and from four to five produced considerable incremental improvement. However, six appeared to be a point of diminishing returns that is, five indicators performed almost as well as six. Moreover, MAXCOV outputs for six or more indicators are rather unwieldy. We believe it is better to have a few high quality indicators than to add low quality indicators to the set just to increase their number. [Pg.61]

Feeding studies with the rat as the test animal verified the high nutritional quality indicated by the amino acid pattern (45). Returning the attention to the developed world, Fig. 19.5 shows selected indicators of the emission of NO in the EU15 countries, the US air quality index and the violation of NO concentration standards in Japan for all emission sources in relation to 1996 values. Now we apply the usual linear regression procedure, which delivers slope and intercept of the calibration function. One could think that the uncertainty of measurement is a perfect quality indicator for a laboratory. The lower the reported uncertainty the better the laboratory. As a consequence customers may commission these laboratories just because of the low reported uncertainties. It has to be clearly stated, that this is a misuse of uncertainty statements. As a result this would lead to umealistic reported uncertainties by ... [Pg.249]
