The INTROS Flaw Detector is certified by the Russian State Standard Service (GOSSTANDART) as well as approved by the Russian State Mining and Technology Safety Inspection (GOSGORTECHNADZOR). It is used to inspect mining hoist and crane ropes. Fig. 5 illustrates the INTROS use at the mining hoist of an Ural ore mine. The previous model of the instrument, MDK-11 was used to inspect ropes of the air rope ways in Caucasus and Kazakhstan in 1996. Fig. 6 shows the INTROS MDK-11 inspection of 45 mm skyline rope in Almaty, Kazakhstan. [Pg.337]

The modern Russian MIA flaw detectors use pulse version of the method [1-3], which peirnits to produce very portable (0.7 - 1.5 kg) and simple instruments, convenient especially for in-service testing. The objects to be tested are multilayer structures of reinforced plastics, metals and other materials honeycomb panels, antenna fairings, propellers, helicopter rotors and so on. In mentioned instruments amplitude-frequency analog signal processing is used. [Pg.827]

The Russian State medical dosimetric Register was founded after this catastrophe At present in the Register they keep a medical and radiation-dosimetric information about 435.276 persons. [Pg.910]

The diagnostic system DK-ID comrising the X-ray densitometer and special equipment for speciments prepare is designed in MSIA Spectrum . This system is actively used by several Russian companies dealing with forestry. The fact of efficient radiographic tomography use, when inspecting the conditions of trees in the forests is also known. [Pg.913]

The ground bed, for example, of the Russian railway roads used in very tough operating and natural conditions, its defects and deformations present a real threat to the safe trains running and reduce the passage capacity of the railway lines. [Pg.913]

In the coal-mining industry, more than 300 mines are operated in three coal-mining regions Ukraine produces only 5 5 million tons of its own oil, but the ramified network of oil pipelines supports the operation of 10 petroleum plants. The Ukrainian gas pipelines transport the Russian gas to Central and Western Europe. [Pg.966]

The discovery of perfect geodesic dome closed structures of carbon, such as C o has led to numerous studies of so-called Buckminster fullerene. Dislocations are important features of the structures of nested fullerenes also called onion skin, multilayered or Russian doll fullerenes. A recent theoretical study [118] shows that these defects serve to relieve large inherent strains in thick-walled nested fullerenes such that they can show faceted shapes. [Pg.278]

In 1973, a group of Russian experimenters may have produced metallic hydrogen at a pressure of 2.8 Mbar. At the transition the density changed from 1.08 to 1.3 g/cms. Earlier, in 1972, at Livermore, California, a group also reported on a similar experiment in which they observed a pressure-volume point centered at 2 Mbar. Predictions say that metallic hydrogen may be metastable others have predicted it would be a superconductor at room temperature. [Pg.4]

The acceptance of the name was premature because both Russian and American efforts now completely rule out the possibility of any isotope of Element 102 having a half-life of 10 min in the vicinity of 8.5 MeV. Early work in 1957 on the search for this element, in Russia at the Kurchatov Institute, was marred by the assignment of 8.9 +/- 0.4 MeV alpha radiation with a half-life of 2 to 40 sec, which was too indefinite to support discovery claims. [Pg.163]

Samarskite, a mineral) Discovered spectroscopically by its sharp absorption lines in 1879 by Lecoq de Boisbaudran in the mineral samarskite, named in honor of a Russian mine official. Col Samarski. [Pg.185]
