Assessment environmental

Environmental Assessment The public was interested in how they could participate in the environmental assessment process and whether a full public review was necessary. As well, they wanted information on the roles assumed by the environmental regulatory agencies (Environment Canada and Alberta Environment) in the project. [Pg.92]

This chapter of the SAR should provide a summary of the environmental reports for construction, operation and modification of the facility. [Pg.57]

This section should briefly discuss the following points, in connection with the related information included in Chapter A.3 (Site Characteristics)  [Pg.57]

Some licensing actions may have little or no environmental effect. In these cases, the decision to take these actions should be stated and briefly justified. [Pg.57]

Tliis chapter of the SAR shall describe the technical aspects of the commissioning programme for the facility in sufficient d il to show that the functional requirements of structures, systems and components will be verified adequately. Complete details of commissioning may be provided in a separate commissioning document. [Pg.57]

This section shall provide the following information concerning the commissioning programme  [Pg.58]

Screening undertaken to decide which projects should be subjecHo environmental assessment. Screening may be partly determined by local EIA regulations. Criteria used include threshold, size of project, and sensitivity of the environment. [Pg.72]

An Environmental Assessment for each alternative (focusing on the facility conditions and pathways of contamination actually addressed by each alternative) should be prepared. Issues to be reviewed include the short- and long-term beneficial and adverse effects of the response alternative any adverse effects on environmentally sensitive areas and an analysis of measures to mitigate adverse effects. [Pg.140]

Coal used in power stations has the potential to be partly replaced by fuels derived from pre-treated plastics and paper waste, reducing both dependency on fossil fuels and reliance on landfill. APME reports on a project in the Netherlands which it co-sponsored to develop a substitute fuel from plastics. The environmental assessment of the project compared the environmental impacts of coal substitution with other plastics recovery methods, including gasification in feedstock recycling and energy recovery from plastics waste in cement kilns. The study also compared coal substitution with the generation of power from burning biomass. [Pg.32]
