Safety-Related Maintenance Requirements

The follow-up subcommittee provides oversight of safety-related maintenance and work order requests. This subcommittee requires special expertise and should consist of maintenance technicians, employees, and a supervisor providing authority to take corrective action. It provides an unbiased review of each safety-related maintenance and work order created, schedules, and completed work within a designated time period or still outstanding. Its objective is to assist the maintenance staff in setting risk-related priorities and ensure that corrective actions are fully implemented. [Pg.171]

The HCF maintenance management program is described in the SNL/NM Nuclear Facility Maintenance Implementation Plan (MIP) in (SNL 1997) and the SNL/NM Site Maintenance Plan (SNL 1993). Requirements for the availability of the electrical power sources should be stated for all operational states. These include off-site sources on-site generators (diesels and gas turbines, including associated fuel reserves) batteries and associated control protective, distribution and switching devices. The operability requirements should be such that sufficient power will be available to supply all safety related equipment necessary for safe shutdown of the plant, and for the mitigation and control of accident conditions. The operabihty requirements should determine the necessary power, redundancy of supply lines, maximum permissible time delays and necessary duration of the emergency power supply.
