Surveillance Requirements

This section shall discuss the surveillance requirements regarding the frequency and scope of tests, showing that the performance levels set by the safety limits and the limiting conditions for safe operation are being met. The requirements for monitoring, inspection, operability checks and calibrations shall be included and the actions to be taken if a system fails should be described. The conditions for continuing operation during repair or the acceptability of substitution of equipment for failed equipment should be stated. [Pg.71]

Table 11 summarizes values for the median lethal dose (LD q) for several species. In case of massive exposure, convulsions must be controlled, and glucose, fluid balance, and uriaary output must be maintained. Medical surveillance requires checking for damage to the Hver, the organ that apparently sustains initial damage, and monitoring for changes ia the blood profile. [Pg.288]

Other activities that fall within the area of postmarketing surveillance require input from, if not handling by, those responsible for clinical drug safety. These may include observational (non-interventional) studies, which may be retrospective or prospective, and other projects specifically designed to investigate a safety issue. [Pg.338]

The transportation restrictions prohibiting the movement of toxic chemical munitions together with establishing that most maintenance and surveillance requirements are typically the same at storage installations, resulted in developing a standard modular facility design which could be sited at more than one installation. [Pg.273]

This section describes the initial care that can be given by an untrained responder without the use of sophisticated equipment and without a wide selection of medications available. If medical attention is required, the instructions should state this, including its urgency. It may be useful to provide information on the immediate effects, by route of exposure, and indicate the immediate treatment, followed by possible delayed effects with specific medical surveillance required. [Pg.381]

DOE-STD-3 009-94 provides guidance for nuclear facilities on establishing documented safety limits, limiting control settings, and limiting conditions for operation, surveillance requirements, administrative controls, and design features... [Pg.17]

An accurate record of the medical surveillance required by this section shall be retained. This record shall be retained for the period specified and meet the criteria of 29CFR1910.20. The record required of this section shall include at least the following information ... [Pg.260]

While out of service, the driver must still comply with the vehicle attendance and surveillance requirements if transporting hazardous materials. [Pg.275]

In compliance with the fourth item of para. 9.2, an appropriate surveillance requirement should be established for each operational limit and condition (for further information regarding operational limits and conditions, see Ref [3]). [Pg.47]

Not all SSCs require the same frequency and extent of surveillance. The use of quality assurance principles enables the surveillance requirements to be derived in a graded manner such that the extent of the requirements is consistent with the safety functions performed by the SSCs. Account should be taken of the probability of failure to perform properly (PSA results can be used if applicable) and of the requirement to maintain radiation exposures as low as reasonably achievable. The frequency with which SSCs not normally in use are tested should be optimized, so that they can perform their functions satisfactorily when required and possible wear-out due to overtesting is avoided. In deciding on the extent of the surveillance requirements, systems may be classified in accordance with their importance to safety. [Pg.47]

Technical Safety Requirements shall define the operating limits and surveillance requirements, the basis thereof, safety boundaries, and management or administrative controls necessary to protect the health and safety of the public and to minimize the potential risk to workers from the uncontrolled release of radioactive or other hazardous materials and from radiation exposure due to inadvertent criticality. [Pg.218]
