Processing extraction

A completely different approach, in particular for fast imimolecular processes, extracts state-resolved kinetic infomiation from molecular spectra without using any fomi of time-dependent observation. This includes conventional line-shape methods, as well as the quantum-dynamical analysis of rovibrational overtone spectra [18, 33, 34 and 35]. [Pg.2116]

The thermospray process extracts sample molecules from a solvent and turns them into ions. Therefore, the system is both an inlet and an ion source, so a separate ion source is not necessary. [Pg.73]

Solvent Extraction. Extraction processes, used for separating one substance from another, are commonly employed in the pharmaceutical and food processing industries. Oilseed extraction is the most widely used extraction process on the basis of tons processed. Extraction-grade hexane is the solvent used to extract soybeans, cottonseed, com, peanuts, and other oilseeds to produce edible oils and meal used for animal feed supplements. Tight specifications require a narrow distillation range to minimize solvent losses as well as an extremely low benzene content. The specification also has a composition requirement, which is very unusual for a hydrocarbon, where the different components of the solvent must be present within certain ranges (see Exthaction). [Pg.280]

Aromatic Hydrocarbons. Sulfolane is used principally as a solvent for extraction of benzene, toluene, and xylene from mixtures containing aHphatic hydrocarbons (33—37). The sulfolane process was introduced in 1959 by SheU Development Company, and that process is Hcensed by Universal OH Products. A sulfolane extraction process is also Hcensed by the Atlantic Richfield Company. In 1994, worldwide consumption was estimated at ca 6974 t/yr of sulfolane for 137 sulfolane extraction units (see Bix processes Extraction, liquid-liquid Xylenes and ethylbenzene). [Pg.69]

The number of cells required for each step of the overall extraction process - extraction, washing and stripping - is determined empirically. [Pg.273]

For selection of alternative solvents (non-ozone depleting) for separation processes (extraction and HPLC mobile phase optimisation) references [24,25] are very useful. [Pg.55]

An SFE instrument can be designed as a single standalone instrument performing a range of manual processes extraction, fractionation, concentration, solvent exchange, reconstitution and derivatisation. [Pg.87]

The mixture has 20% 3He concentration. Only 6.7% is used in the cooling point, so that the dilution process extracts additional power in the return line until the J-T expansion (see Fig. 6.17). [Pg.174]

Among three different reforming processes discussed above, the steam reforming of ethanol yields more H2 in the reformate, 6 moles per mole of ethanol converted because the process extracts about 3 moles of H2 from water. This makes the process more attractive in terms of power generation via fuel cells. Assuming only 60% efficiency of a fuel cell, an useful electrical work output of about 12 828 kJ could be obtained from 1 liter of ethanol via steam reforming, which is about 3 times higher... [Pg.98]

Thiocyanates are present in water primarily because of discharges from coal processing, extraction of gold and silver, and mining industries. Thiocyanates in soil result from direct application of weed killers and disposal of by-products from industrial processes. Less important sources include release from damaged or decaying tissues of certain plants such as mustard, kale, and cabbage. [Pg.15]

Like the solvent extraction process, extractive distillation relies on the intimate contact of the liquid solvent and the aromatics concentrate vapors to allow the aromatics to be preferentially dissolved in the solvent. The usual list of solvents includes DEG (Diethylene glycol), TEG (Triethylene glycol), NMP (N-methyl pyrrolidone), or methyl formamide. [Pg.32]

High-grade pitchblende ores are leached with nitric acid to recover uranium. Extraction of uranium from nitrate solutions is usually performed with TBP. TBP-based solvents are used in several areas of the nuclear industry, especially for reprocessing of spent nuclear fuels and for refining the uranium product of the Amex and Dapex processes. Extraction of uranium by TBP solvents is described in sections 12.3.4 and 12.5. [Pg.516]

Thus there is considerable incentive to find extractants that could tolerate higher quantities of solids in H2SO4 leach liquors. Stripping of uranium from the Amex process extractant and subsequent regeneration of the amine solvent also consume considerable quantities of acid and base. Recovery of uranium from H2SO4 solutions would be simplified if a convenient neutral extractant could be found. An extractant with better selectivity for vanadium and molybdenum than HDEHP and long-chain amines is also desirable. [Pg.553]

It has already been shown in Chapter 4 (section 4.2.1) that from the thermodynamic point of view the process described by Eq. (16.2) can be modeled by the sum of its partial processes (extraction steps), irrespective of whether they really proceed or not. That is because Gibbs free energy is the function of state and its total change does not depend on the reaction path. According to the complex formation-partition model [76], one can distinguish two main steps in extraction of metal ions ... [Pg.691]

The oil derived from biomass was liquefied with the PERC process, extracted with decalin, hydroprocessed at 370 0, and the fraction boiling above 350 C (BMO) was separated by distillation (16). A hydroprocessed mixture of North sea and Arabian light vaccum gas oil (HVGO) was used as a "base line", i.e. a typical FCC feed stock. [Pg.269]

Storage at 4 °C or less is recommended for all samples, and storage at —20 °C or less is recommended for crude and processed extracts. The recommended containers are amber glass bottles with Teflon tops, but Teflon containers may be used for particularly corrosive samples. Stainless steel containers are not considered acceptable because of the potential for sample contamination. Additional research to address optimum storage conditions (temperature, time, and storage containers) that preserve sample integrity is recommended. This study should include research on the storage of raw samples, crude extracts, and processed extracts. [Pg.43]

Exercise. From the Wiener process extract the subensemble corresponding to Y(t0) = y0. Find the evolution of <7(f)> for t > t0. Also find the variance 7(t)2 in this ensemble. [Pg.89]

By the use of higher extraction-pressures (around 350 to 450 bar) and 40 to 70°C, the CC>2-processed extracts contain all CC>2-soluble components, including resins, colorants, fatty oils and waxes, and such extracts are different to solvent-extracts. [Pg.546]
