Training personnel

When the employee begins working, the focus should turn to the safe operation of equipment and proper materials handling and spill cleanup procedures. Techniques should be demonstrated for minimizing the amount of material allowed to escape and the human exposure to it. Employees should also be taught the signs and methods of detecting the release of toxic material into the work environment. [Pg.109]

Ongoing training should consist of regularly scheduled drills and safety meetings in conjunction with supervisory reviews of industrial hygiene, materials handling, and emergency practices. In this manner, the procedures in effect always correspond to the chemicals and equipment in use. [Pg.109]

Documentation of process procedures in a manual or set of guidelines ensures that job duties are precisely defined. This is especially important in an integrated production process where unsatisfactory performance during one step can adversely affect the remaining steps of the process. In general, a well-written operating manual or set of instructions (Stus 1984)  [Pg.109]

Process documentation of this type also promotes product consistency, lessening the likelihood of producing unacceptable product which must be discarded. Moreover, procedural guidelines can be helpful in reducing waste generation during maintenance or emergency shutdowns. [Pg.110]

Non-Newtonian antiicing fluids ate currently being used in the United States on a limited, experimental basis. Antiicing fluids requite special handling and appHcation equipment and techniques, and therefore deicing equipment modification and personnel training are requited before these fluids are used by an airline at an airport. [Pg.192]

Ensuring that the fire brigade, or otlier personnel trained in initial first aid/fire-fighting, are present. [Pg.426]

Process design results in the design output, following which the process has to be constructed or installed, personnel trained capability studies conducted, and process verification performed. It will therefore be necessary to generate several other procedures dealing with each of these topics. [Pg.205]

Personnel (training) ensures all staff know how the systems should work and equips them to identify breakdowns and help identify and correct any underlying problems. [Pg.137]

It should be noted that the data collection and conversion effort is not trivial, it is company and plant-specific and requires substantial effort and coordination between intracompany groups. No statistical treatment can make up for inaccurate or incomplete raw data. The keys to valid, high-quality data are thoroughness and quality of personnel training comprehensive procedures for data collection, reduction, handling and protection (from raw records to final failure rates) and the ability to audit and trace the origins of finished data. Finally, the system must be structured and the data must be coded so that they can be located within a well-designed failure rate taxonomy. When done properly, valuable and uniquely applicable failure rate data and equipment reliability information can be obtained. [Pg.213]

Reliability This encompasses factors such as the laboratory environment and organization, equipment design and maintenance, personnel training, skills and experience, design and handling of the analytical method, etc. [Pg.140]

Obviously, GMP requirements, especially extensive personnel training, calibration, qualification and validation, enhanced documentation, extensive cleaning and sanitation, and sharpened in-process control must considerably influence process organization and output. All these GMP-related activities are costly and time consuming, and will result in decreased productivity and increased production costs. On the other hand, a quality assurance system contributes to consistent production with a lower number of rejected batches and complaints. [Pg.515]

Audits of each phase of the study should include personnel training, preparation of collection forms, application calibration, each sample collection procedure, sample transport, each type of chemical analysis, data recording, data entry, data verification and data storage. Data collection in the field is often tedious if automated logging devices are not in place. To ensure data integrity, the paper and ink used for field studies should be waterproof. Each data collection form should contain appropriate locations for information detailing the time and location of sample collection, sample transport and sample analysis. Data collection forms should be stored in an orderly fashion in a secure location immediately upon return of field teams from the field at the end of each day. It is also important for data quality for studies to collect necessary field data seven days per week when required. In our experience, poor study quality is likely when field sample and data collection do not proceed on weekends. [Pg.946]

An organized document filing system must be maintained. This could be a paper file, an electronic document file, or a mixture of both. The equipment inventory system contains key information on the components of each system, their performance criteria and maintenance and calibration status. All documents including installation and performance documentation, as with other documents necessary to demonstrate the quality of the data, include SOPs for the qualification procedures, calibration, maintenance, personnel training, etc. If the manufacturer s operating, service, or maintenance manuals are used or cited in the operating procedures, copies of these manuals should be maintained. To facilitate retrieval, documentation should be stored in a central location and be indexed for easy retrieval. [Pg.1042]

Computerized systems should be included in facility inspections of field sites and analytical laboratories. Items discussed previously, such as computer maintenance records and personnel training records, can be reviewed more thoroughly during the facility inspection. [Pg.1054]

Command post Supervision of all field operations and field teams Maintenance of communications, including emergency lines of communication Recordkeeping, including - Accident reports - Chain-of-custody records - Daily logbooks - Manifest directories and orders - Personnel training records - Site inventories... [Pg.659]

Identified hazards can either be reduced at the root (e.g., reduction of inventory) or by introduction of protective systems (e.g., automatic emergency shutdown). The increased understanding of the chemistry and the process that is obtained from hazard evaluation procedures provides guidance for many other elements of process safety management as well (e.g., procedural instructions, emergency strategies, personnel training, and preventive maintenance). [Pg.175]

GR-6.2.2.10 Personnel Training. The Quality System for personnel training shall provide for documentation of the objectives and the expected outcome of the training. The input defining the training needs shall be provided to support each Quality System function and the specific project requirements. [Pg.82]
