Quality system

Quality or, more specifically, quality systems are important in environments where work is being carried out that is under strict regulation by external bodies such as the medicines and health regulatory authority (MHRA) regulating a pharmaceutical company. This is also true in forensic science laboratories. Although there is not a regulating body per se, it is the court or judicial system that requires the process be regulated. It is not mandatory in forensic science laboratories, but most, if not all, choose to introduce and maintain a quality system. [Pg.177]

In the US, the NIST administers the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP), which complies with ISO 9002, and with details available at  [Pg.203]

One often unsuspected source of error can arise from interference by the substances originating in the sample which are present in addition to the analyte, and which are collectively termed the matrix. The matrix components could enhance, diminish or have no effect on the measured reading, when present within the normal range of concentrations. Atomic absorption spectrophotometry is particularly susceptible to this type of interference, especially with electrothermal atomization. Flame AAS may also be affected by the flame emission or absorption spectrum, even using ac modulated hollow cathode lamp emission and detection (Faithfull, 1971b, 1975). [Pg.204]

That set of modules includes alongside the traditional procedures related to product control, quality assurance procedures for conformity assessment. The intervention of a third party in these procedures comprises an initial audit of the manufacturer s quality system which must include both the specific technological aspects of the products concerned and the methodology of the quality assurance procedures. Furthermore the manufacturers are subject to periodic audits to ensure that the systems are maintained. Finally, on the occasion of unexpected visits, the notified body can carry out tests on the products. [Pg.939]

Thus each of the elements of the quality system is functioning by means of processes. Each process included in the system has to be estimated from different positions ... [Pg.954]

The second approach - creation of systems for non-destructive testing quality assurance in compliance with ISO standards 9000 series - considers the quality system as an assembly of organisational strueture, procedures, processes and resources necessary for overall quality management at the laboratory. This approach requires methodieal development. [Pg.956]

The issue that must be managed is the appropriate threshold to communicate the change and initiate appropriate approval processes. Tolls subject to regulatory requirements may use the regulatory guidance as the threshold for management of change processes other tolls must establish the threshold appropriate to process risks, quality systems, and business concerns. [Pg.118]

More customer confidence by relieving them from coti-stant checks to ensure the required quality and timely delivery, partictilarly for custom-built and engineering products. In a third party order, the quality systems would also help to fulfil the customer s own contractual obligations to a client. [Pg.247]

All these standards have since been adopted by the member countries as their national standards, fully or in slightly modified forms, to suit their own requirements and working conditions. These standards define and clarify the quality norms and aim at in-house quality disciplines, to automatically and continually produce a product, provide a service or programme to the stipulated specifications, quality norms and customer needs. They guarantee a product or service with a minimum quality. The envisaged quality systems thus aim at a work culture that pervades all those involved in different key activities or processes, to achieve the desired goal through carefully evolved systems. [Pg.248]

Modern management systems stress the need for continuous monitoring of defined systems and procedures for enforcement and improvement of quality systems. These should minimize immediately and eliminate ultimately the recurrence of simihir problems through preventive measures. [Pg.249]
