Concentrations are always quoted in pressure-independent units, which also means density-independent units. These could be the mole fraction or molality, but equally correct is the molarity measured at a specified temperature and pressure. Invariably, the pressure should be 0.1 MPa.- From this value, the mole fraction can be calculated if necessary, but for most purposes there is no reason to make this calculation. The ionic strength is quoted in units of the molality at 0.1 MPa. 

It is appropriate to distinguish between intrinsic, solvational, and steric contributions towards AF. The solvational contribution can usually be obtained from a systematic solvent-dependence study. The steric contribution can only be obtained from a series of measurements in which the steric hindrance is changed systematically. It is not yet known whether steric hindrance will also affect the position of the transition state in terms of early or late with respect to the reactants and products along the reaction coordinate. Series of studies have shown that there is good correlation between the activation enthalpy and the location of the transition state in terms of volume

When it approved the New Animal Drug AppHcation (NADA) of formalin, FDA ruled that use of formalin for fisheries was safe for humans and the environment. They ruled that effluents from fish treatments at 250 mg/L should be diluted 10 times and from egg treatments 75 times if 1,000 —2,000 mg/L were used (10,11). Before registering the compound, FDA also addressed carcinogenicity by stating it was not concerned about human exposure from either water or fish treated with formalin. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) has procedural guidelines that should protect workers from harm fill levels of formalin. Calculations based on treatment levels demonstrated that a fishery worker is exposed to not more than 0.117 mg/L formalin in the air, well below the levels estabUshed by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration to protect workers. 

If a vesicant is prescribed as an infusion, it is given through a central line only and checked every 1 to 2 hours. The nurse keeps an extravasation kit containing all materials necessary to manage an extravasation available, along with the extravasation policy and procedure guidelines.

This manual is written in general terms so that it can be used as a procedural guideline by the individual responsible for writing quality manuals and applicable standard operating procedures and programs. The format of this manual, these procedures, and the numbering system can easily be used by small to large companies and are acceptable to ISO certification bodies. 

Process documentation of this type also promotes product consistency, lessening the likelihood of producing unacceptable product which must be discarded. Moreover, procedural guidelines can be helpful in reducing waste generation during maintenance or emergency shutdowns. 

Many of the test methods applied to coal analysis are empirical in nature, and strict adherence to the procedural guidelines is necessary to obtain repeatable and reproducible results. The type of analysis normally requested by the coal industry may be a proximate analysis (moisture, ash, volatile matter, and fixed carbon) or an ultimate analysis (carbon, hydrogen, sulfur, nitrogen, oxygen, and ash).

Procedural guidelines for accuracy determination include replicate analysis, e.g., three to six assays, at five levels, over the range from 80% of the lowest expected assay value to 120% of the highest expected assay value, or from 75% to 125% of label claim, six samples of drug in the matrix spanning 50% to 150% of the expected content. At minimum, three concentrations must be used within the analytical range (extremes and midpoint of expected or near quantitation limit, center of range, and upper bound of standard curve).
