Alumina. A pure although not necessarily a refractory grade of alumina is obtained from bauxite by the Bayer process. In this process, the gibbsite from the bauxite is dissolved in a caustic soda solution and thus separated from the impurities. Alumina, calcined, sintered, or fused, is a stable and extremely versatile material used for a variety of heavy industrial, electronic, and technical appHcations. [Pg.25]

Experience in the automotive industry is obviously open to interpretation. This does not mean that only auditors who have worked in CM, Ford, BMW, etc. will be eligible. Auditors with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to the QEMs will also be eligible as will those who have worked for industries that produce products or materials used by the automotive industry. Therefore if an auditor has worked in the steel industry, electronics industry, or other manufacturing industry, such experience could be acceptable. During... [Pg.67]

In industrial electronics, DLCs can be used in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), elevators, pallet trucks, etc. [90], They can be combined into large modules with integrated balancing that span outages in all power categories. In power-electronic, they are particularly suitable for backup in operation independent of the line voltage. A particular example is the power supply of wind turbine pitch system which is a market which is increasing very fast. [Pg.460]

Electronics Industry Electronics-grade nitric acid (70%) is used by semiconductor and printed circuit board manufacturers. Nitric acid cleans contaminants from the wafer s surface during several steps in semiconductor manufacture. Acetic and hydrofluoric acids may be blended with nitric acid to etch away metal. Nitric acid is also used for cleaning in the manufacture of printed circuit boards. [Pg.250]

Nitto Denko Corporation primarily manufactures industrial adhesive tapes for the electronics, automotive, health care, packaging and construction industries. The company produces industrial, electronic and functional products. Industrial products include double-coated adhesive tapes, masking tapes surface protective materials, sealing materials and label printing systems. Electronics products include LCD-related items general and advanced device resins printed circuit boards and semiconductor package adhesive sheets. Functional products include medical items such as transdermal therapeutic patches polymer separation membranes used for water purification and treatment and plastic engineering products such as information equipment and porous film materials used in cars, electronics, and home appliances. Nitto Denko America, Inc., an optoelectronics subsidiary, manufactures semiconductor... [Pg.400]

Land disturbance and exposure of buried geologic strata to the open environment leads to sulfide oxidation (if present) and, as a consequence, water-quality degradation of runoff. For water-quality-control purposes, sedimentation ponds required by law are used as water treatment basins. Often, the pH of such basin waters is below 6, and the concentration of heavy metals is above acceptable levels. Water treatments include neutralization and removal of heavy metals as precipitates. Similar water-quality problems arise from other industrial sources, including heavy steel industries, electronics, food processing, mineral processing, and waste-disposal leachates. This portion of the chapter deals with some of the chemical agents used for neutralization purposes and some of their limitations. [Pg.456]

The RF power-generator typically works at frequencies of w = 2.6-3.2 MHz with a power of 40-80 kW, depending on the desired crystal diameter. Till now, such generators only work with an industrial electron power tube (tri-ode), which is robust, but has a limited total operating time. The RF output parameters (w, U, I) of the self-excited generator are defined by the tank... [Pg.49]

As for Sony s major competitors, Matsushita made little attempt after its victory in the VCR battle to introduce new audio and video products. A literature review led Halfon to the field of research where Reggiani and Marchetti (1975) were active. Both engineers worked at Selenia, an industrial electronics company in Rome, Italy. Their approach was based on earlier research done a by Helmut Hasse during the 1940 s and the early 1950 s. Collaboration with Dr. Reggiani that lasted several years (Halfon and Reggiani 1978, Reggiani and Halfon 1979, Halfon and Reggiani 1986). Dr. Marchetti, a student at the time, moved on to other research endeavours. [Pg.387]
