Production of acetone by dehydrogenation of isopropyl alcohol began in the early 1920s and remained the dominant production method through the 1960s. In the mid-1960s virtually all United States acetone was produced from propylene. A process for direct oxidation of propylene to acetone was developed by Wacker Chemie (12), but is not beheved to have been used in the United States. However, by the mid-1970s 60% of United States acetone capacity was based on cumene hydroperoxide [80-15-9], which accounted for about 65% of the acetone produced.

Bulk production of United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and reagent grades is based on the reaction of sodium carbonate or hydroxide with an acidic iodide solution, typically hydriodic acid or a metal iodide. After removal of chemical impurities, the solution is filtered and concentrated. Evaporation gives the anhydrous Nal. Controlled cool-down produces either the dihydrate or the pentahydrate [81626-33-7]. 

Other Sodium Borates. SOLUBOR, TIM-BOR, or POLYBOR (63), proprietary products of United States Borax Chemical Corp., have the approximate composition of disodium octaborate tetrahydrate, Na20 4320 4H2O. This material is produced by spray-drying mixtures of borax and boric acid.

The sulfur content of U.S. coals varies widely, ranging from a low of 0.2 percent to as much as 7 percent by weight, on a diy Basis. The estimated remaining U.S. coal reserves of all ranks, by sulfur content, are shown in Fig. 27-1. An "amazing amount of trash", mostly plastic objects, is stranded on the Atlantic coast of Florida during onshore winds, particularly in winter (55). While some of this debris was of United States origin (from local sources or from entrainment in the Florida Current of wastes from shipping), the remainder was of Venezuelan, Columbian, and Jamaican origin. Debris from the easternmost Caribbean and the northern coast of South America could be transported to the Atlantic coast of Florida by the Guiana and Antilles Currents in about four months. There are fewer data on the frequency of medication use during lactation. Use does appear to be common. A recent Dutch study reported that 53% of all breast-feeding mothers had taken a medication, herb, or supplement (exclusive of iron, vitamins, and homeopathic remedies).5 Furthermore, more women in the United States are now abiding by the recommendation to breast-feed. It is now estimated that up to 50% of United States women breast-feed for at least a short time.6... 

The National Center for Health Statistics estimates that 15.8 million Americans have signs and symptoms of OA. Standard solution. Dissolve an accurately weighed quantity of United States Pharmacopoeia valproic acid reference solution in w-heptane to obtain a solution having a known concentration of about 2.5 mg/mL.
