A) articles recognized in the official United States Pharmacopeia, official Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States, or official National Formulary, or any supplement to any of them and (B) Articles intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease in man or other animals and (C) Articles (other than food) intended to affect the structure of any function of the body of man or other animals and (D) Articles intended for use as a component of any articles specified in clause (A), (B), or (C). 

Optical Rotation. Standards established by the Pharmacopeia of the United States (25) require the optical rotation of lemon oils to fall within the range of 57 to 65.5°. Authentic lemon oils, however, have optical rotations that may vary from below 50 to above 70°. Stanley et aU (26) demonstrated a relationship between the optical rotation of lemon oil and the hydrocarbon composition. They found a high positive correlation of optical rotation with d-limonene, and a high negative correlation with beta-pinene.

The Spanish edition of USP VIII was published in 1908. It was adopted by Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Addressing the Convention of 1910, Joaquin Bernardo Calvo, representing Costa Rica, stated offering to our physicians and pharmacists who do not speak English the Pharmacopeia of the United States translated into Spanish it is one of the most useful works of its kind, if not the most useful, among those published up to the present date. Chapter 9 gives an overview of the Pharmacopeia of the United States of America (USP) and its USP-NF requirements for stability purposes. This chapter also discusses the development process for monographs, the goals for the general chapters, and relevant testing used for stability studies. 

Official homeopathic drugs are those that have been monographed and accepted for inclusion in the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States (HPUS). The potencies of homeopathic drugs are specified in terms of dilution, that is, 1 x (1/10 dilution).
