During the construction of a ship the Surveyor monitors NDE results for completeness of testing and overall quality of welding. This role includes the evaluation of checkpoints taken specifically for classification purposes but also includes the monitoring of additional checkpoints taken for quality control purposes by the builder. In the case of tankers built to LR Class since 1994 and for bulk carriers built to Class since January 1996 the Surveyor will witness the actions listed as part of the ShipRight Construction Monitoring procedure that is now mandatory. [Pg.1045]

This section describes briefly some of the basic concepts and methods of automatic 3D model builders. However, interested readers are referred to Chapter II, Section 7.1 in the Handbook, where a more detailed description of the approaches to automatic 3D structure generation and the developed program systems is given. [Pg.96]

To obtain the required product yield, the reaction substructure search is combined with a textual search using the queiy builder" of the MDL" ISIS program. [Pg.267]

The first task was the aeation of large 3D chemical structure databases. By devising so-called fast Automatic 3D model builder, software such as the CORINA [27, 28] and CONCORD [29, 30] programs resulted in a boom in 3D database development (see Section 2.9 in this book and Chapter II, Section 7.1 in the Handbook). A subsequent step was the development of fast... [Pg.313]

Model Builder lo get a reasonable starting geometry, with the possibility of refilling the geometry by sem i-empirical calculations before submitting it to ah initio computation. [Pg.108]

ZIXDO/S is parameteri/ed to reproduce spectroscopic transitions, therefore we do not recommend using this method for geometry optim i/ation. You can obtain better results by performing a single-point calculation wuth ZIXDO/S on a geometry obtained from the Model Builder, an optim Ization iisln g one of IlyperChem s oth er methods, or an external source. [Pg.151]

A restrain t (not to be confused with a Model Builder constraint) is a nser-specified one-atom tether, two-atom stretch, three-atom bend, or four-atom torsional interaction to add to the list ol molec-11 lar mechanics m teraction s computed for a molecule. These added iiueraciious are treated no differently IVoin any other stretch, bend, or torsion, except that they employ a quadratic functional form. They replace no in teraction, on ly add to the computed in teraction s. [Pg.203]

ChemSketch has some special-purpose building functions. The peptide builder creates a line structure from the protein sequence defined with the typical three-letter abbreviations. The carbohydrate builder creates a structure from a text string description of the molecule. The nucleic acid builder creates a structure from the typical one-letter abbreviations. There is a function to clean up the shape of the structure (i.e., make bond lengths equivalent). There is also a three-dimensional optimization routine, which uses a proprietary modification of the CHARMM force field. It is possible to set the molecule line drawing mode to obey the conventions of several different publishers. [Pg.326]

Some of the other features of this program are the ability to compute transition states, coordinate driving, conformation searches, combinatorial tools, and built-in visualization. The builder includes atoms and fragments for organics, inorganics, peptides, nucleotides, chelates, high-coordination geometries, and... [Pg.330]

The builder works very well. It has an atom-based mode in which the user chooses the element and hybridization. There are also libraries of functional... [Pg.331]

Jaguar comes with a graphic user interface, but it is not a molecule builder. The interface can be used to set the program options. The user must input the geometry by typing in Cartesian coordinates or a Z-matrix. The interface may... [Pg.337]

Our reviewer felt the molecule builder was easy to use. It is set up for organic molecules. Specialized building modes are available for peptides, nucleotides, and carbohydrates. It is also possible to impose constraints on the molecular geometry. Functions are accessed via a separate window with buttons labeled with abbreviated names. This layout is convenient to use, but not completely self-explanatory. The program is capable of good-quality rendering. At the time of this book s publication, a new three-dimensional graphic user interface called Maestro was under development. [Pg.345]

The graphic interface is a multitasking environment that works well. The protein and carbohydrate builders are particularly convenient to use. The small-molecule builder has a selection of common organic functional groups as well as individual atoms for organics and common heteroatoms. There are a... [Pg.345]

GaussView (we used Version 2.08) is a graphic interface for use with the Gaussian ah initio program. It can be used to build molecules, set up the options in the input hie, run a calculation, and display results. GaussView uses the molecule builder that was written by SemiChem, but has screens for setting up calculations that are different from those in the AMPAC GUI sold by SemiChem. [Pg.349]

The program has a Z-matrix editor, which is not the same as a graphic molecule builder. This allows the user to display the Z-matrix and then define... [Pg.350]

The program was made somewhat less convenient to use by the fact that it does not have a molecule builder. In order to predict chemical shifts, the molecular structure must be built with some other software package and then im-... [Pg.354]

Use the HyperChem Model Builder to construct an approximate geometry. If you want to look at the relative energies of a set of molecules, you may want to carry out the calculations using fully optimized molecular geometries. These geometry optimization calculations can use either molecular mechanics or quantum mechanics to further refine the molecular geometry beyond that given by the Model Builder. [Pg.107]
