Master builders

The Iron filings used were free of grease and ore. Ninety-five per cent of the filings passed an 8o-mesh screen and 6o per cent passed a loo-mesh screen. Grade D iron supplied by the Master Builders Company, Cleveland, Ohio, is ready for use and very satisfactory. 

With the fall of the Roman Empire, the ancient water supplies petered out. In early medieval times, people were content to conduct local water in wooden pipes to public cisterns. The first wooden pipelines for water were laid at Liibeck about 1293 and in 1365 at Nuremberg. In 1412 the Augsburg master builder Leopold Karg first used wrought-iron pipes in conjunction with wooden pipes to supply water. Abdelrazig et al. (1984) studied the commercial FEB SET-45 cements and mortars (Set Products Inc., Master Builders Division, Martin Marietta Corporation). Their hydration behaviour is similar to those described above. The mortars normally set in 15 minutes and hardened in 30 to 60... 

These men were the master builders of the Wehrmacht. They knew (and very few others knew) every detail of the intricate, enormous engine of warfare, and they watched its growth with the pride of architects. This atypical service contract is most similar to a contract for works and services, as a certain result is owed by the debtor like in a contract for works and services. A typical example for a common contract for works and services is commissioning a master builder to build a house on a plot of land. However, in Chemical Leasing the contract cannot be fulfilled by delivery and acceptance by the factory. The house will be completed sometime. However, chemicals will be permanently needed by the enterprises using them. Therefore the contract has to be de devised as a longterm obligation, and in this respect it is similar to the service contract or the tenancy. Also in case of more comprehensive services on the part of the supplier a service contract or tenancy can serve as a model. 

Just as a master builder sells the hole in the wall to a customer rather than merely a sledgehammer, the focus of Chemical Leasing is on selling the full service package of chemicals usage to the customer of the chemicals manufacturer - and not just the chemicals themselves.

The oxide layer that forms on the iron used in remediation applications, however, may differ from models developed to describe passive films because the iron used is an impure, recycled material that is manufactured primarily for use as a conditioner in building materials. Spectroscopic analyses of these materials show that they consist of a complex mixture of crystalline phases (25-27). Recently, Raman spectra obtained on iron particles from Master Builder Inc. (Cleveland, OH) and Peerless Metal Powder Abrasives (Detroit, MI) revealed maghemite, magnetite, and hematite (a-Fe203) on samples analyzed as received (27).
