Metering oi the production for fiscal (taxation), tariffing and re-allocation purposes may take place as the product leaves the production platform, or as it arrives at the delivery point such as the crude oil terminal. If the export pipeline Is used by other fields (including third party users) it would be common to meter the production as it leaves the platform. [Pg.283]

Project planning techniques are employed to prepare realistic schedules within manpower, materials and funding constraints. Realistic schedules are those that include a time allocation for delays where past experience has shown they may be likely, and... [Pg.295]

We propose a physical model, being based on the variation of the magnetic flow, allowing to determine defects characteristics. Some is the material and some is the geometry of the product, the presence of a defect allocates the flow in the straight section of the solenoid. The theoretical model proposed allows to find defects characteristics from the analysis of the impedance variation. [Pg.349]

J. Holland, Genetic algorithms and the optimal allocation of trials, SIAM J. Gomputing 2 (1973), 88-105. [Pg.222]

The complexity analysis shows that the load is evenly balanced among processors and therefore we should expect speedup close to P and efficiency close to 100%. There are however few extra terms in the expression of the time complexity (first order terms in TV), that exist because of the need to compute the next available row in the force matrix. These row allocations can be computed ahead of time and this overhead can be minimized. This is done in the next algorithm. Note that, the communication complexity is the worst case for all interconnection topologies, since simple broadcast and gather on distributed memory parallel systems are assumed. [Pg.488]

This algorithm is an improvement over the algorithms described in the previous subsections. The idea behind this algorithm is fairly simple. To ensure load balance, the rows of the force matrix will be allocated in such a way that the load on all processor is equal. [Pg.488]

The remaining 28 articles have been grouped in five chapters that reflect the main topics of the Berlin meeting. As in any interdisciplinary volume, there is a degree of arbitrariness in the allocation of some of the articles. [Pg.497]

Rings are described by allocating digits to the two connecting ring atoms. [Pg.27]

We must now mention, that traditionally it is the custom, especially in chemo-metrics, for outliers to have a different definition, and even a different interpretation. Suppose that we have a fc-dimensional characteristic vector, i.e., k different molecular descriptors are used. If we imagine a fe-dimensional hyperspace, then the dataset objects will find different places. Some of them will tend to group together, while others will be allocated to more remote regions. One can by convention define a margin beyond which there starts the realm of strong outliers. "Moderate outliers stay near this margin. [Pg.213]

The Kohonen Self-Organizing Maps can be used in a. similar manner. Suppose Xj., k = 1,. Nis the set of input (characteristic) vectors, Wy, 1 = 1,. l,j = 1,. J is that of the trained network, for each (i,j) cell of the map N is the number of objects in the training set, and 1 and j are the dimensionalities of the map. Now, we can compare each with the Wy of the particular cell to which the object was allocated. This procedure will enable us to detect the maximal (e max) minimal ( min) errors of fitting. Hence, if the error calculated in the way just mentioned above is beyond the range between e and the object probably does not belong to the training population. [Pg.223]

In misiipcrviscd learning, the network tries to group the input data on the basis of similarities between theses data. Those data points which arc similar to each other arc allocated to the same neuron or to eloscly adjacent neurons. [Pg.455]

Roulette wheel selection In this selection variant the probability for selecting a chromosome is proportional to its fitness. The idea can be illustrated when we imagine a roulette wheel, where a slot is allocated to each chromosome and the size of the slot is chosen with respect to the quality of the chromosome. When the wheel is spinning the chromosomes with a better quality are more likely to be chosen than those of a minor quality. Figure 9-28 illustrates this procedure,... [Pg.469]

As with methods for allocating electron density to atoms, the Mayer method is not necessarily correct, though it appears to be a useful measure of the bond order that conforms to accepted pictures of bonding in molecules. [Pg.103]

Each molecule is allocated to one cell according to its values along each axis. It is then straightforward matter to select a representative set of molecules one just chooses or... [Pg.701]

Input and output subroutines to read and echo print data, allocate and initiahze working arrays, and output the final results generally in a form that a post processor can use for graphical representations. [Pg.196]

MODIFY - addressing of members of the coefficient matrix are adjusted to allocate their row and column index in the banded matrix. [Pg.212]

PUTBCV Inserts the prescribed velocity boundary values at the allocated place in the vector of unknowns for flow equations. [Pg.213]

SETPRM Rearranges numbers of nodal degrees of freedom to make them compatible with the velocity components at each node. For example, in a niiie-noded element allocated degree of freedom numbers for v i and vj at node n are X and X +9, respectively. [Pg.213]

The program uses dynamic memory allocation within a memory limit that must be set manually if the default is insufficient. The program does store data in scratch files, but the size of these files has been kept to a minimum. The output is neatly formatted, but designed for wide carriage printers. [Pg.339]

MOPAC 2000 is the most recent commercial version of MOPAC. It includes improvements in a number of areas. The MNDO/d and AMl-d Hamiltonians are also now available. The program uses dynamic memory allocation. This results in calculations requiring less memory for small molecules and at the... [Pg.342]

Allylamines are difficult to cleave with Pd catalysts. Therefore, amines are protected as carbamates, but not as allylamines. Also, allyl ethers used for the protection of alcohols cannot be cleaved smoothly, hence alcohols are protected as carbonates. In other words, amines and alcohols are protected by an allyloxycarbonyl (AOC or Alloc) group. [Pg.382]

The terms green chemistry and environmentally benign synthesis have been coined to refer to procedures explicitly designed to minimize the for mation of byproducts that present disposal problems Both the National Science Foundation and the Envi ronmental Protection Agency have allocated a por tion of their grant budgets to encourage efforts m this vein... [Pg.644]

The DIIS method is not without cost. A history of Fock matrices must be maintained and appropriate memory allocated. In addition, the computational cost of generating anew Fock matrix is significant. Also, in very rare cases, the solution found by this method is very different from that found in other ways. [Pg.230]

United States Caustic Soda Production. In 1987 U.S. production of caustic soda increased to 10.4 million tons (fig. 1), more than 10% over that of the previous year, furthermore, 1988 production was up another 6.7% to 11.1 million tons. The demand for caustic soda has been very strong in recent years as evidenced by both increased U.S. consumption and a strong export demand. In 1987 the United States exported 1.5 million tons, 14.5% of the total caustic soda production (6), representing a 25.5% increase over exports in 1986. Then, in 1988, caustic soda exports grew by another 4.1%. A weak doUar helped boost the 1987 exports. Growth slowed in 1988, however, as a result of an industry (and world) wide caustic soda shortage, which was caused by lower U.S. chlorine consumption and forced allocations. Because industries switched from caustic to soda ash where possible, the lower 1988 export growth was not indicative of caustic soda s export potential. [Pg.478]
