Simple conventional refining is based essentially on atmospheric distillation. The residue from the distillation constitutes heavy fuel, the quantity and qualities of which are mainly determined by the crude feedstock available without many ways to improve it. Manufacture of products like asphalt and lubricant bases requires supplementary operations, in particular separation operations and is possible only with a relatively narrow selection of crudes (crudes for lube oils, crudes for asphalts). The distillates are not normally directly usable processing must be done to improve them, either mild treatment such as hydrodesulfurization of middle distillates at low pressure, or deep treatment usually with partial conversion such as catalytic reforming. The conventional refinery thereby has rather limited flexibility and makes products the quality of which is closely linked to the nature of the crude oil used. 

A considerable percentage (40% - 85%) of hydrocarbons are typically not recovered through primary drive mechanisms, or by common supplementary recovery methods such as water flood and gas injection. This is particularly true of oil fields. Part of the oil that remains after primary development is recoverable through enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods and can potentially slow down the decline period. Unfortunately the cost per barrel of most EOR methods is considerably higher than the cost of conventional recovery techniques, so the application of EOR is generally much more sensitive to oil price. 

Through this study, we have shown that ultrasonic imagery can be an optimal solution to the different problems in Non Destructive Testing. This method, largely used, would have to be introduced in industry by an investment of the NDT users. This also requires a reorientation and supplementary operators trained in ultrasonic techniques.

More recently, these dyes were the subject of an important chapter by Ficken in Venkataraman s volume published in 1971, The Chemistry of Synthetic Dyes, which covers supplementary chemical knowledge (2).

Effective specification control often can be estabUshed other than through requirements placed on the end use material, ie, the specification may beat on the taw materials, the process used to produce the material, or ancillary materials used in its processing. Related but supplementary techniques ate approved vendor Hsts, accredited testing laboratories, and pteptoduction acceptance tests. 

The two most useful supplementary techniques for the light microscope are EDS and FTIR microscopy. Energy dispersed x-ray systems (EDS) and Eourier-transform infrared absorption (ETIR) are used by chemical microscopists for elemental analyses (EDS) of inorganic compounds and for organic function group analyses (ETIR) of organic compounds. Insofar as they are able to characterize a tiny sample microscopically by PLM, EDS and ETIR ensure rapid and dependable identification when appHed by a trained chemical microscopist. 

Although molybdenum is an essential element, excess levels can have deleterious effects. The LD q and TLV values of the most common Mo compounds are Hsted in Table 3 (63,64). In general the toxicity of Mo compounds is considered to be low. For example, M0S2 has been found to be virtually nontoxic even at high levels. Certain Mo compounds such as MoCl and Mo(CO), have higher toxicity because of the chemical nature and reactivity of these compounds rather than the Mo content. Supplementary dietary Cu ", thiosulfate, methionine, and cysteine have been shown to be effective in alleviating Mo toxicity in animals.
