Supplementary tables

The standard deviation Sy is given by Equation 19, but first a supplementary table must be constructed for the Y residuals and other data which will be needed in subsequent equations. 

When both components are nonhydrocarbons, the observation is listed in both places unless a substantial saving of space would result from using a cross reference. Hydrocarbons are listed as solvents (names in upper case and not indented) only if two hydrocarbons are involved, or if they are included in the supplementary Tables III to VIII. 

In the line giving the name of the solvent, or just below it, alternative names of the solvent are shown, and also its melting point.if this is higher than some of the CST. Similarly, the critical temperature of the solvent is listed if it is a pertinent factor in the observations. Also listed are references to the supplementary tables. This furnishes an index to them.

We have initially described this trend in three different enzymes subjected to a selection for an increase in six different promiscuous activities. The focus is often on one outstanding aspect of material performance e.g. refractoriness, electrical or thermal insulation, chemical resistance or wear resistance - the other properties are, at best, supplementary (Table 4). Such materials are generally only achieved with synthetic raw materials in combination with appropriate process engineering, for which utmost cleanness is essential.
