Staff educational requirements

The company must have sufficient employees with suitable education, training, and experience to perform method development, validation, and performance. Also, the laboratory staff will require such supporting staff as administrative, supervisory, maintenance, safety, and shipping and receiving. The company should therefore have an organizational chart that clearly defines the role and responsibilities of each employee. Additionally, each employee must have a well-defined job description and a curriculum Vitae, that delineates the employee s work history and educational experience. [Pg.132]

Assurance of competent staff begins by preparing position descriptions that specify the educational requirements, operational experience, and duties of the laboratory personnel. The qualifications of the supervisors, analysts, and instrument operators who are hired must match these descriptions. Each staff position should have a set of core training specifications (e.g., radiation safety, chemical safety, waste minimization and disposal, quality assurance) plus specific training in its area of responsibility. Table 13.3 provides suggested position titles, educational requirements, and general responsibilities for the optimal laboratory staff. [Pg.279]

Semi-aqueous cleaning technologris an excellent choice where (1) the solvent mixture is matched to soil components, (2) high levels of removal of small amounts of soils are required, (3) soil materials are not changed, and (4) the site is populated by staff educated, trained, and experienced in reprodudbly operating complex chemical processes . [Pg.118]

Poor reliability for all conditions, differences in patient history and behavior, some not for intubated and tracheotomized patients, less usefiil in complex patients, omission of close attention to the patient, requirement of ongoing staff education, reduced ICU time shifts the length of stay and costs to another area, too rigid-cookbook style, not necessarily faster, nonphysician unable to modulate a therapist driven protocol, team conflicts, hard to demonstrate cost reductions... [Pg.88]

The reason for an Exposition is so that there is a description of the system showing how it works and how it controls the achievement of quality. This is different from the policies and procedures. The policies are a guide to action and decision and as such are prescriptive. The procedures are the methods to be used to carry out certain tasks and as such are task related. They need to be relatively simple and concise. A car maintenance manual, for example, tells you how to maintain the car but not how the car works. Some requirements, such as those on traceability and identification, cannot be implemented by specific procedures although you can have specific policies covering such topics. There is no sequence of tasks you can perform to achieve traceability and identification. These requirements tend to be implemented as elements of many procedures which when taken as a whole achieve the traceability and identification requirements. In order that you can demonstrate achievement of such requirements and educate your staff, a description of the system rather than a separate procedure would be an advantage. The Exposition can be structured around the requirements of ISO/TS 16949 and other governing standards. It is a guide or reference document and not auditable. [Pg.164]

Our next staff development seminar is scheduled for 8/7/01. We plan to discuss the modification requirements for general education teachers. [Pg.223]

Identification of all possible sources of arsenic required education of the investigators by means of written literature, lectures by Hewlett Packard s staff, and demonstrations and explanations by HP s process operating supervisors and staff. This education is one of the prime areas where HP demonstrated the kind of cooperation and knowledge of their facility and process that made the chemical characterization with respect to arsenic a rather comprehensive one. [Pg.349]

The site survey discussed was conducted by an overseas water treatment distributor (located in the Middle East). The distributor employed a particularly well-educated male/female team. However, most members of the staff lacked experience and sought advice on the survey from a U.S.-based tech-nical/marketing support office. They required an interpretation of the data obtained, and some directional focus for future commercial and technical action. [Pg.286]

As with any successful implementation of a pharmacy service, education and training of pharmacy staff prior to the implementation of the service are essential for success. Pharmacists should achieve proficiency in providing the service before the start date of the service. The time needed to train pharmacy staff depends on the complexity of the service and the experience of the staff. Not only do the pharmacists need to be knowledgeable about the service, but they also may need to practice some of the skills required for some services (e.g., giving a flu shot or completing a lipid panel). Therefore, there should be sufficient practice and a demonstration of competence before they work with actual patients. To help illustrate how the education and training can occur, the preparation of pharmacists at Care-Rite Pharmacy for their Pharmacy Check-up Service will be discussed. [Pg.444]

In addition to specialty nursing accreditation bodies, the Joint Commission, formerly the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), mandates specific areas in which health care institutions must ensure that employees are prepared. As part of the national emergency preparedness plan, JCAHO (2001) has mandated that all health care institutions be required to design and implement an emergency preparedness plan. In addition, each institution must establish an orientation and education program for staff and must conduct emergency preparedness drills at least twice a year. [Pg.552]

Role descriptions for individuals should be prepared and kept up to date. Evidence that individuals have sufficient education and experience to enable them to undertake their assigned functions must be collected and kept ready for presentation when required. The delegation of duties to qualified individuals should include a definition of deputies so that working practices are not hamstrang when key staff are absent. [Pg.71]
