The responsibilities of personnel and the laboratory s management structure must be clearly defined, by means of organizational charts, job descriptions and curriculum vitae for the personnel who are carrying out the study. There must also be up-to-date records of qualifications and of the training that the staff have received, including any records necessary to show their competence to carry out their work. 

It is essential that all data generated and any other records or samples (if possible) are retained so that they are available for inspection at a later date. This means that there must be a secure and properly controlled archive, with an archivist to maintain it. The archive will contain a copy of the Study Plan, quality assurance reports, records of staff including their curriculum vitae (CV) and training records. Access to the archive has to be strictly controlled, and any additions to or withdrawals from the archive must be logged (see also electronic records in Section 9.2.1.8). Such removal or additions can only be undertaken by stated personnel.

Review the documentation of training for the staff. This can be done by reviewing curriculum vitae, job descriptions, proficiency testing records, education, and in-house training. 

For all of the studies we audit, we ask for a curriculum vitae on each of the staff members who are conducting and/or are involved with the study. We want to know about their education, experience, and training in the area they are working. 

The company must have sufficient employees with suitable education, training, and experience to perform method development, validation, and performance.
