Future Industry Prospects

Fuel alcohol production could well expand further if government policies provide incentives for more widespread use as automotive fuel, and if technical developments continue to lower alcohol manufacturing costs. Some efficiency has occurred in overall plant operating costs due to seasonal balancing of the production of HFS and fuel alcohol. Plant capacity used in producing HFS for surging summer soft drink demands can be used during other times to produce fuel alcohol. [Pg.20]

Food demands for other com refinery products are expected to expand with population growth or possibly more rapidly with new product development and technological improvements that would lower unit costs. Similarly, expanded industrial uses can be expected with growth in the US economy and possible new uses and applications made feasible through research. [Pg.20]

A continued upward trend in sales abroad in both food and industrial markets appears promising. Several firms are expanding their foreign direct investments in com refining operations and participating in joint ventures with foreign firms. [Pg.20]

Future industrial prospects are suggested by the exceptionally diverse range of applications in which ROMP polymers have now been deployed. The impact of ROMPgel reagents was alluded to above. These and... [Pg.646]

A tremendous amount of research in the Held of electroorganic synthesis has been performed in industrial laboratories. This work usually is only accessible with difficulty because it is hidden in patents. Therefore it is extremely helpful for scientists working in this field that an industrial electrochemist undertook the burden of critically reviewing the patent literature. At the same time the prospects and limitations for future industrial applications of electroorganic syntheses are clearly evolved. [Pg.208]

As the chemical industry turns more and more to biotechnological solutions for chemical and fuel production, the end goal is an optimization of the process to meet given economic criteria. Thus, extreme thermophiles must find then-niche on the basis of their intrinsic properties as hosts. While there are currently no known industrial products produced through the use of metabolically engineered extreme thermophiles, the attributes of these organisms make them excellent prospects for further development for future industrial use. [Pg.512]

It was therefore felt timely to examine the world market for performance plastics to determine how suppliers are responding to lower consumption and to consider future growth prospects for the industry. [Pg.1]

Anthraquinone dyes have been produced for many decades and have covered a wide range of dye classes. In spite of the complexity of production and relatively high costs, they have played an important role in the areas where excellent properties ate requited, because they have excellent lightfastness and leveling properties with brUhant shades that ate not attainable with other chtomophotes. However, recent increases in environmental costs have become a serious problem, and future prospects for the anthraquinone dye industry ate not optimistic. Some traditional manufacturers have stopped the production of a certain dye class or dye intermediates that were especially burdened by environmental costs, eg, vat dyes and their intermediates derived from anthraquinone-l-sulfonic acid and 1,5-disulfonic acid. However, several manufacturers have succeeded in process improvement and continue production, even expanding their capacity. In the forthcoming century the woddwide framework of production will change drastically. [Pg.342]

The industry has developed higher compression tanks to expand the range, and more fast-fill stations are becoming available, yet the prospects of the majority of service stations adding compressed natural gas refueling anytime in the near future are bleak. The oil companies, which control most of the service stations and over 60 percent of America s natural gas reserves, are not eager to make the massive infrastructure investment to cannibalize the billions of dollars they have tied up in refineries, pipelines, and service sta-... [Pg.831]

This series covers recent advances in electrocatalysis and electrochemistry and depicts prospects for their contribution into the present and future of the industrial world. It illustrates the transition of electrochemical sciences from a solid chapter of physical electrochemistry (covering mainly electron transfer reactions, concepts of electrode potentials and stmcture of the electrical double layer) to the field in which electrochemical reactivity is shown as a unique chapter of heterogeneous catalysis, is supported by high-level theory, connects to other areas of science, and includes focus on electrode surface structure, reaction environment, and interfacial spectroscopy. [Pg.704]

From this discussion it becomes clear that the community of academic and industrial chemists sees great future prospects particularly for solid-phase bound transition metal catalysts despite the fact that it is a very young field and that not all expectations have been fulfilled so far. A major problem is that transition metals are often not bound irreversibly, and their complexes are not as stable as they were... [Pg.202]

Past evolution and future prospects of the Pharma Industry and its regulation in the USA... [Pg.614]

In the previous chapter (Chapter 21), we described how the pharma industry and the FDA work together today, respectively, to develop and approve new drugs, and to ensure their safe use in the marketplace. In this chapter, we consider the future course and prospects for regulation and drug development. [Pg.614]
