Depending on the size ot the facility and its management style, such reporting may be written or provided as an oral update, e.g., at the plant manager s weekly staff meeting. Figure 8-1 shows a completed example of a written monthly status report. [Pg.177]

Written reports. If you decide to request formal status reporting you should specify the format to be used and the information you expect from each location. Reports should be kept brief, and should address progress at an overview level. Figure 8-2 diows an example of a quarterly progress report. [Pg.178]

Shorter status reports that are required with greater frequency tend to be more effective than longer, less frequent reports in helping to maintain continuing momentum. The need to show progress (for example) every month tends to keep PSM installation in focus, while a quarterly submission would permit more sporadic attention to PSM installation. [Pg.178]

Most facilities keep records on the operating status of the plant, usually in the form of monthly status reports or a chart that displays production level versus days, weeks, or months over the plant life. Changes in plant status are generally noted by date on either of these two data sources, but may also be logged separately. This information is important so that an accurate count of the number of hours spent in each plant state (operating versus nonoperating) and number of demands due to plant state changes can be used for reliability and risk analysis. [Pg.215]

Another helpful tool is a project control chart, which uses budget and schedule plans in a quick status report of the project. It compares actual to plan, calculates a variance on each task completed, and tallies a cumulative variance for the project. [Pg.833]
