Customer Complaints. A failure in a company s quaUty system often shows up in the form of a customer complaint. These reports of nonconformances, whether for product or service deficiencies, are typically received by the sales or customer service organization and then channeled to QA. Quahty assurance often tracks the progress and coordinates the complaint investigation. Once completed, it is QA that reviews the report of the investigation and corrective action for thoroughness and efficacy. QuaUty assurance then either passes the information along to the sales or customer service organization or contacts the customer direcdy. 

It is also a guideline to ensure product quahty through the suitabihty of the manufacturing equipment, air and water quahty, sanitation, insect and rodent control, and housekeeping. The FDA periodically sends inspectors to audit chemical companies who manufacture bulk pharmaceutical chemicals or inactive ingredients called excipients to ensure conformance. Whereas GMP conformance ensures that the product meets pharmaceutical quahty standards, it does not ensure conformance to customer-service-related requirements.

When a service is out of service, tell your customers. Services which rely on products should carry a label or a notice when accessed. A bank cash machine is one example where a notice is displayed when the machine is out of service. In some cases customers may need to be informed by letter or telephone.

Residential Pricing Residential natural gas rates are for tiatural gas seivice atid for the gas commodity. The price of the gas commodity comprises about oue-third of the total price a residential customer pays, on average. The remainder of the bill includes amounts for transmission and distribution of gas, system maintenance, safety and inspection programs, customer service, metering, billing and other costs.

This separation or unbundling of the industi"y is necessai"y to provide nondiscrimina-tory access for all suppliers of electricity. Customers will have their choice of electric suppliers.

Once the complete title is known, the journal can easily be obtained if it is in the library customarily used by the chemist. If not, one must use another library, and the next step is to find out which libraries carry the journal.
