Based on the different modules used in technical scale membrane separation processes, there are four basic membrane configurations produced today on a large scale. These are flat sheet, tubular, capillary, and hollow fiber membranes. [Pg.53]

Although the Arrhenius equation does not predict rate constants without parameters obtained from another source, it does predict the temperature dependence of reaction rates. The Arrhenius parameters are often obtained from experimental kinetics results since these are an easy way to compare reaction kinetics. The Arrhenius equation is also often used to describe chemical kinetics in computational fluid dynamics programs for the purposes of designing chemical manufacturing equipment, such as flow reactors. Many computational predictions are based on computing the Arrhenius parameters. [Pg.164]

Aqueous formaldehyde is corrosive to carbon steel, but formaldehyde in the vapor phase is not. AH parts of the manufacturing equipment exposed to hot formaldehyde solutions must be a corrosion-resistant alloy such as type-316 stainless steel. Theoretically, the reactor and upstream equipment can be carbon steel, but in practice alloys are required in this part of the plant to protect the sensitive silver catalyst from metal contamination. [Pg.494]
