Money savings

Satisafactory compressor installations many times depend on how well the foundation or support structure was designed. An inadequate foundation design can result in equipment damage due to excessive vibration. The money saved by cutting comers on foundation design effort may be spent many times in costs associated with high maintenance and lost production. 

This book not only deals with major matters, such as laboratory size and location, layout, and utilities. It also includes seemingly minor topics, such as choice of paints and floor coverings, money saving hints for utility hookups, and types of ceiling treatment.

To properly address this issue, a plant-wide study of oil loss and wastewater generation points should be conducted and evaluated. From there, a cost-effectiveness analysis of potential operational and physical remedial measures can be conducted. Very few plants exist where such a study cannot produce plenty of opportunities for loss reduction and money savings. 

Unless specifically directed otherwise, never return any excess reagent to a bottle. The money saved by returning excesses is seldom worth the risk of contaminating the entire bottle.

Some labs attempt to save money on antibodies by mixing small volumes that do not allow enough volume to cover the samples or by reusing antibodies multiple times.
