A one-hoiir sampling period is generally required for both methods. Sampling periods are specified by the applicable standard e.g., standards applicable to triple-superphosphate plants require sampling of one hour or more. One major item remains before we can apply the dispersion methodology to elevated emission sources, namely plume height elevation or rise. The final element which regulations address is quality. Safety and fitness for purpose, as discussed above, are two of the characteristics that you would associate with a quality product. However, these characteristics alone would not describe a quality product. For any product or service to be considered quality you would also expect it to be reliable and consistent. Additionally in the context of medical products, quality means a requirement to demonstrate conformance to agreed specifications or applicable standards for content, purity and stability. The Clean Air Act of 1970 and the 1977 amendments that followed consist of three titles. Title I deals with stationary air emission sonrces. OSHA is entrusted with the major responsibility for workplace safety and workers health (Wang, 1994). Where practical, the calibration standards used for production and quality assurance measurement equipment shall be traceable to the national standards of the National Bureau of Standards, Department of Commerce. If national standards are not practical for the parameter being measured, an independent reproducible standard shall be used. If no applicable standard exists, an in-house standard shall be developed and used. 

Auditing as described in QMS models is intended to assess the effectiveness of the overall quality system as designed and conformance to applicable standards. The overall quality system does not have to be covered in a single audit. Manufacturers may choose to employ a rolling audit approach in which specifically identified subsystems are chosen for evaluation in accordance with an approved audit schedule. Audit plans should be designed to effectively perform this assessment. 

This manual is written in general terms so that it can be used as a procedural guideline by the individual responsible for writing quality manuals and applicable standard operating procedures and programs. The format of this manual, these procedures, and the numbering system can easily be used by small to large companies and are acceptable to ISO certification bodies.

As the ISO 9000 series of quality standards becomes more widely adopted by organizations, both in the United States and elsewhere in the world, it is essential for compliant companies to create quality systems manuals and applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs) for their employees. These SOPs enable both new and experienced staff to understand the requirements of the ISO 9000 series of standards, along with the principles and practices of the company, and comply with these regulations to build the elements of quality into their products and services with a particular reference to customer satisfaction. 

To be successful, an organization must offer services and products that meet a well-defined purpose or need. A company must satisfy its users, including delivery time scales. It should be ensured that applicable standards, statuary requirements, and specifications are in compliance. The offered product or services should be within budget and provide value. Companies should ensure that their total operations are carefully reviewed before implementation to reduce the occurrence of error and quickly correct any error inadvertently made. Control should be demonstrated on changes through proactive communication and feedback loops between the company and external interfaces. Training needs must be identified to promote efficiency and cost-effectiveness. 

The following terms, used in this edition of ISO 9001 to describe the supply chain, have been changed in the quality system manual and applicable standard operating procedure to reflect the vocabulary currently used. 

The need to achieve quality in activities, services, and products has been recognized to ensure that the organization meets well-defined objectives, satisfies its users/customers expectations and contractual requirements, complies with applicable standards and specifications, and provides value for money.
