Standard Application and Performance Tests

Many specialized tests have been developed to measure the application, appearance and resistance properties of interior decorative coatings. The reader is referred to the specific ASTM and ISO test methods given in Tab. 6-3, and the cited references [13-14] for a more detailed description of test method protocols. Our objective in this section, and in the subsequent application and performance test sections, will be to identify the key performance features and to give the reader an overview of how these tests are conducted. [Pg.142]

The cleanability of a coating is generally assessed by stain resistance or scrub tests. In the stain resistance test, the coating is allowed to dry for a specified time (usually a week) and then common staining materials such as coffee, tea, frait juice, mustard. [Pg.144]

It should be noted that the tests and specifications listed in Table 7 are provided for guidance and should be set for each individual method based on its application and performance. For example, there may be no resolution requirement for an HPLC dissolution assay. For the same method, it may also be impractical to set the injector repeatability requirement at an RSD of < 1% if the peak response for the API is very small. Again, in the same example it is also impractical to require a check standard to be within 1% of the working standard if the RSD requirement for replicate analyses of the working standard is <2 %. Some ion exchange columns may not provide plate counts of > 2000 or tailing factors of < 2. [Pg.153]

Industrial maintenance coatings are evaluated by many of the standard stability, application and resistance tests used for decorative coatings. Like decorative finishes, they are applied in the field and need to have good heat-age and freeze-thaw stability. They should also have good appearance and application properties, and are generally evaluated for performance in spray, roller and brush application, as well as for... [Pg.156]

The basic condition of the Standard application - the availability of stable coupled probabilistic or the multiple probabilistic relations between then controlled quality indexes and magnetic characteristics of steel. All the probabilistic estimates, used in the Standard, are applied at confidence level not less than 0,95. General requirements to the means of control and procedure of its performance are also stipulated. Engineers of standard development endeavoured take into consideration the existed practice of technical control performance and test at the enterprises that is why the preparation of object control for the performance of nondestructive test can be done during the process of ordinary acceptance test. It is suggested that every enterprise is operated in correspondence with direct and non-destructive tests, obtained exactly at it, for detailed process chart and definite product type, however the tests have long since been performed after development of the Standard displayed that process gives way to unification. [Pg.25]

We are confident that any user of this combined evaluation technique, as well as the development of future test standards for manual ultrasonic testing will benefit from this result, because it allows a greater flexibility in the applicable method without loosing reliability. Often an expensive production of a reference block can be avoided and therefore testing costs are reduced. Since all calculations are performed by a PC, the operator can fully concentrate on his most important duty scanning the workpiece and observing the A-scan. Additional time will be saved for the test documentation, since all testing results are stored in the instrument s memory (the PC s hard drive) with full link to the Software World (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.). [Pg.818]

Arrester Testing and Standards Regulatory and approval agencies and insurers impose acceptance testing requirements, sometimes as part of certification standards. The user may also request testing to demonstrate specific performance needs, just as the manufacturer can help develop standards. These interrelationships have resulted in several new and updated performance test procedures. Listing of an arrester by a testing laboratoiy refers only to performance under a defined set of test conditions. The flame arrester user should develop specific application requirements based on the service involved and the safety and risk criteria adopted. [Pg.2304]
