Artificially acquired immunity against some diseases may require periodic booster injections to keep an adequate antibody level (or antibody titer) circulating in the blood. A booster injection is the administration of an additional dose of die vaccine to boost the production of antibodies to a level diat will maintain die desired immunity. Most reported cases of myasthenic syndrome are women and the ocular muscles appear to be particularly commonly affected at early stages of the abnormality. The assessment of patients for thyroid disorders entails a history and physical examination. In many patients with subclinical or mild thyroid disease, there may be an absence of specific signs and symptoms, and the physical examination may be normal.
