Leaves duU gray-green or silvery. Cause Thrips. Leaves may turn brown and papery. These tiny, spiderlike insects can barely be seen with the naked eye. To check for thrips, tap a leaf over a white paper and look for moving specks. Trap thrips with sticky traps or spray plants with insecticidal soap to control them. This family includes coral snakes, cobras, mambas, and kraits. In the United States, Elapidae are responsible for 1-2% of poisonous snakebites.
