Now we are conducting researches on automatic analysis of images in accordance with [3] and corresponding production form and records. [Pg.450]

Researches on detection of sensitivity and control efficiency with high-current betatron modifications KEC-25 and EC-50 were conducted in radiation energy range of 25-45 MeV. [Pg.514]

With the objective determination of the visibilitity of magnetic particle indications quantitative researches on the influence of the inspection parameters will be possible. The first part deals with the type testing of detection media which is as well on the course of adoption for type testing of liquid penetrant systems (prEN 751-2). [Pg.677]

This section attempts a brief review of several areas of research on the significance of phases, mainly for quantum phenomena in molecular systems. Evidently, due to limitation of space, one cannot do justice to the breadth of the subject and numerous important works will go unmentioned. It is hoped that the several cited papers (some of which have been chosen from quite recent publications) will lead the reader to other, related and earlier, publications. It is essential to state at the outset that the overall phase of the wave function is arbitrary and only the relative phases of its components are observable in any meaningful sense. Throughout, we concentrate on the relative phases of the components. (In a coordinate representation of the state function, the phases of the components are none other than the coordinate-dependent parts of the phase, so it is also true that this part is susceptible to measurement. Similar statements can be made in momentum, energy, etc., representations.)... [Pg.101]

Research on ligand effects in aqueous solution has mainly focused on two types of organic reactions ... [Pg.76]

A micelle-bound substrate will experience a reaction environment different from bulk water, leading to a kinetic medium effect. Hence, micelles are able to catalyse or inhibit organic reactions. Research on micellar catalysis has focused on the kinetics of the organic reactions involved. An overview of the multitude of transformations that have been studied in micellar media is beyond the scope of this chapter. Instead, the reader is referred to an extensive set of review articles and monographs" ... [Pg.129]

To recall a personal experience, my research on carbocations and their related chemistry, because of its significance and relevance to biological systems and processes, was supported in part by NIH for nearly 30 years, for which I am most grateful. In 1994, however, my support was not renewed. I was told that it was judged that no further... [Pg.229]

With my European background, I was when I came to America and still am impressed by the rather loosely organized, more decentralized way of research support. Of course, even in a great country like ours resources are not limitless and inevitably prevailing trends of research set priorities. In my field of interest the 1970s and 1980s were a period when, after two oil crises, research on hydrocarbon fuels and their synthetic preparation had significant public interest and support. Catalytic research in its many aspects was heavily pursued and considered a national priority. [Pg.231]

Carbamates are produced by the oxidative carbonylation of amines in alcohol, and active research on the commercial production of carbamates as a precursor of isoyanates based on this reaction has been carried out. As an example, ethyl phenylcarbamate (582) is produced in a high yield (95%) with... [Pg.106]

During their researches on thiazolines, Asinger and Thiel (437.452, 518) showed that A-3-thiazolines (281) can be dehydrogenated to thiazoles in good yields (Scheme 150). [Pg.308]

Saccharin was discovered at Johns Hopkins Uni versity in 1879 in the course of research on coal tar derivatives and is the oldest artificial sweetener In spite of Its name which comes from the Latin word for sugar saccharin bears no structural relationship to any sugar Nor is saccharin itself very soluble in wa ter The proton bonded to nitrogen however is fairly acidic and saccharin is normally marketed as its water soluble sodium or calcium salt Its earliest applications were not in weight control but as a... [Pg.1051]

Even if It could be shown that RNA preceded both DNA and proteins in the march toward living things that doesn t automatically make RNA the first self replicating molecule Another possibility is that a self replicating polynucleotide based on some carbo hydrate other than o ribose was a precursor to RNA Over many generations natural selection could have led to the replacement of the other carbohydrate by D ribose giving RNA Recent research on unnatural polynucleotides by Professor Albert Eschenmoser of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Zurich) has shown for example that nucleic acids based on L threose possess many of the properties of RNA and DNA... [Pg.1177]

Semiconductors are materials that are characterized by resistivities iatermediate between those of metals and of iasulators. The study of organic semiconductors has grown from research on conductivity mechanisms and stmcture—property relationships ia soHds to iaclude appHcations-based research on working semiconductor junction devices. Organic materials are now used ia transistors, photochromic devices, and commercially viable light-emitting diodes, and the utility of organic semiconductors continues to iacrease. [Pg.236]

Rate of Mass Transfer in Bubble Plates. The Murphree vapor efficiency, much like the height of a transfer unit in packed absorbers, characterizes the rate of mass transfer in the equipment. The value of the efficiency depends on a large number of parameters not normally known, and its prediction is therefore difficult and involved. Correlations have led to widely used empirical relationships, which can be used for rough estimates (109,110). The most fundamental approach for tray efficiency estimation, however, summarizing intensive research on this topic, may be found in reference 111. [Pg.42]
