Control meaning

It should also not be assumed that these requirements are only intended for implementation by a department with the title Inspection or Test. Whenever a product is supplied, produced, or repaired, rebuilt, modified, or otherwise changed, it should be subject to verification that it conforms with the prescribed requirements and any deficiencies corrected before being released for use. That is what control means. Control is not just the inspection part of the process and hence quality control , which for years was the name given to inspection departments, was misunderstood. Inspection and test don t control quality. Inspection and test merely measure the quality achieved and pass the results to the producer for remedial action. [Pg.375]

Figure 4.23 shows the results of measuring the electric conductivity of the semiconductor sensor obtained by remote control means from board of the rocket MR-12, along with the data obtained in our experiments and the data of model calculations by other authors. Also shown are the experimental results of similar measurements obtained by other... [Pg.257]

Change is for 2071-2100 from the 1961-1990 control period and for precipitation is expressed as a percentage of the control mean. Model numbers correspond to experiments shown in Table 1. In addition, stimulus-control and cue-exposure techniques (see Chapter 5) can be used effectively as relapse prevention strategies. Stimulus control means that the client learns how to control her or his level of exposure, and under what conditions, to a particular cue that had been associated with drug use. Cue exposure, as you may remember, uses exposure and response-prevention strategies in session to reduce the power of a drug-use cue to trigger cravings or urges to use. [Pg.267]

Source control means different things to different people. Here it means knowing the sources and the amounts of water and contaminants and continuously monitoring them, then reducing the amounts by in-plant operating and equipment changes. [Pg.276]

The word control means that the potential new medicine under investigation is compared with a control group (see Section 6.6.7.4 for further discussion of control). The control maybe placebo, no treatment, active control or different doses of the drug under investigation. [Pg.199]

Providing the deprotonation reaction is kinetically controlled, meaning the intermediates 6 and epi-6 do not interconvert (path A), the enantiomeric ratio Hepi-1 (e.r.) of the trapping products reflects the ratio ks/kg. This is exactly true, if the deprotonation is irreversible and if the reactions of both epimers are complete and stereospecific and proceed with identical yields. (—)-Sparteine 11 proved to be a powerful ligand for the... [Pg.1056]

A standard approach was used to model the data after normalization relative to the appropriate control. The raw shoot weight or shoot length data were normalized by dividing by the control mean for each test to transform the endpoint to the fraction of the control (which was used as the response endpoint in the model). This transformation is presented as ... [Pg.134]

The CSF values in AN compared to healthy control women, where control mean values are set to 0. CRH, corticotropin-releasing hormone HVA, homovamillie acid NPY, neuropeptide Y REC, recovered SHIAA, 5-hydroxyindolacetic acid. [Pg.229]

The first steps towards molecular complexity must have been based on spontaneous reactions - reactions that occurred because they were under thermodynamic control. As we have learned in Chapter 1, this does not mean that there is a causal chain of thermodynamic events leading to life, since a given thermodynamic output depends on the initial conditions (as is always the case in thermodynamics) these are often determined by the laws of contingency - the given temperature or pressure or concentration for that particular process. Thermodynamic control means, however, that if the same reaction is repeated under the same initial conditions, the same results are obtained - as exemplified by Miller s reaction in the famous flask under simulated reducing atmospheric conditions. [Pg.56]
