Printing inks automotive applications

Paper industry, paints and coatings, adhesive and sealants, and carpet industry cover approximately 80% of the latexes. Other industrial applications where latexes are directly applied are printing inks, automotive coatings, nonwoven fabrics, leather industry, and asphalt modification to name a few. [Pg.472]

Lustre/pearlescent pigments have found wide application in automotive coatings, coloured plastics, synthetic leather, printing inks, ceramic products and cosmetics, e.g. nail polish, lipstick and mascara. [Pg.328]

In the chemical industry and in research alone more than 1700 trade name products and chemicals are used as solvents (Ash and Ash, 1996). The worldwide solvents market is estimated at over 30 billions pounds per year. Solvents are used in a wide range of industries and applications including metal cleaning and degreasing, dry cleaning operations, automotive and aviation fuel additives, paints, varnishes, lacquers, paint removers, plastics and rubber products, adhesives, textiles, printing inks, pharmaceuticals, and food processing. [Pg.31]

U.S. consumption of carbon black in 1988 by various market sectors is shown in Table 6. About 90% of total consumption is in the mbber industry and 69% for tires. About 10% is consumed for other automotive products and 11% for rubber products unrelated to the automotive industry. The automotive industry accounts for 79% of consumption. Pigment applications account for about 10% of consumption, most of this for plastics and printing inks. Western Europe consumes 74% in tires and other automotive products and almost 20% in other industrial mbber products. Pigment applications in Western Europe and Japan are 5—6% of consumption. [Pg.549]

It is used in high grade industrial paints and, in combination with high performance pigments, in automotive finishes. The transparent type which is tinctorially strong finds applications in a variety of printing inks. [Pg.29]

Today, a large and increasing proportion of the automotive OEM metallic basecoats in Europe and North America are already waterborne and refrnish basecoats are also available in waterborne versions. Other paint applications have followed and the significant growth of waterborne systems can easily be seen in the statistics of the paint associations. Also in printing inks, the use of waterborne inks is steadily growing. [Pg.260]

Stoddard solvent is a multipurpose petroleum solvent (McDermott 1975). Industrial uses include paint vehicles thinning agent for paints, coatings, and waxes printing inks adhesives and as a solvent in liquid photocopier toners (Air Force 1989b McDermott 1975). Stoddard solvent is commonly used at air fields as a degreaser for precision engine parts in machine shops and in automotive repair applications. [Pg.91]

Main fields of application electronic applications, cable coatings, printing inks, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, floor tiles, paints, coatings, automotive, glues ... [Pg.26]

Applications aircraft, automotive, coatings (for automotive piastics, doth, ieather, paper/paperboard, piastics, wood) iacquers (for automotive, paper, piastics, wood), naii care, panei for iiiuminated signs, printing inks, tool handles ... [Pg.42]

Pearlescent pigments are used to obtain pearl, iridescent (rainbow), or metallic effects, and in transparent color formulations to obtain brilliance or two-tone color, luster flops and color travel effects (changing with viewing angle). The most important applications are plastics, industrial coatings, printing inks, cosmetics, and automotive paints. [Pg.78]

The properties described qualify benzimidazolone pigments for applications such as high quality industrial paints, including automotive finishes and special effect paints, plastics and high performance printing inks. The colorants are available in the form of powders, masterbatches, liquid dispersions, pastes and granules (see Table 10-4). [Pg.150]

UV stabilized, lasermarkable acetal copolymer meets all current automotive interior weathering requirements including the 1240.8 kJ/m exposure requirement which is the highest standard in the industry. This resin is designed to be used in automotive interior functional components such as cassette stereo buttons, hood and trunk release levers, or cruise control buttons. In these applications, the parts can be laser marked with the functional description without fear of the identification rubbing off as currently can occur with ink printed components. In other applications, decorative marks can be made such as company logos and tradenames. An example is a car stereo trim plate marked with either the logo of the automaker or the stereo manufacturer. [Pg.321]

Tables 15.6 and 15.7 lists the various hydrocarbon solvent blends marketed by Shell Chemical. The blends with boiling points ranging from 61 to 204°C find use as solvents in adhesives, agricultural formulations, automotive undercoating, cleaning and polishing formulations, cosmetics, drugs and pharmaceuticals, inks, paints, varnish, lacquers, paper coatings, resin and plastic applications, textile coatings, printing, and other miscellaneous uses.
