Installation weather condition

The greater portion of PVC is installed in the mechanically fastened roofing system a lesser portion is installed in fully adhered appHcations. Although PVC was once heavily used in ballasted roofing systems, there are only a small number installed in the 1990s. Fleece-back membrane is popular in the PVC constmction for both fully adhered appHcations as well as in appHcations where a separator sheet is needed. PVCs ate resistant to vafious weather conditions, bactefial growth, and industfial chemicals. These membranes ate chemically incompatible with bituminous materials. PVCs ate offered in a variety of colors. The physical characteristics of a PVC membrane have been described (15). [Pg.214]

For facilities that include large numbers of motors and other electrical equipment, it normally is both more economical and more convenient to furnish a building to enclose the required motor starters and distribution panels. This building is normally referred to as a motor control center (MCC). In addition to typically allowing less expensive non-explosion-proof equipment, these buildings are frequently environmentally controlled (air conditioned, and possibly heated in colder climates) to reduce equipment corrosion and enhance reliability. Maintenance is more easily performed indoors than if the equipment were installed outside and maintenance personnel were subject to extreme cold, rain, snow, or other adverse weather conditions. [Pg.545]

A commercial advantage was present in many industrial processes. Uncontrolled heat and humidity impacted some products such as chocolate, pasta, textiles, and tobacco. Air conditioning allowed for unifonn and continuous production despite weather conditions, reduced spoilage and waste, and thus saved money—enough in many cases to easily justify the installed and operating costs. [Pg.26]

The covers are constructed from aluminum or some type of steel. This should provide adequate protection from being pierced or cut through. The metals are corrosion resistant so that they will not corrode or become fragile from extreme weather conditions in outdoor applications. The bolts used to install each of these systems are galvanized steel. In addition, the bolts for each cover are installed on the inside of the unit so they cannot be removed from the outside. [Pg.190]

When intumescent and subliming mastic coatings are to be installed in areas prone to extreme weather conditions, the manufacturer s recommendation for applying protective sealing should be followed. Also, note should be taken of these circumstances where a manufacturer advises against installing a material. [Pg.154]

The module can be attached to south oriented wall of a building. Additional transparent cover is installed parallel to the facade of the building and used for protection of mirror from the inclement weather conditions. [Pg.90]

Different processes will be developed having advantages for particular applications. For example, some types of processes will be more economical for treating brackish waters some processes are expected to be particularly adaptable to use in household-type units or small installations others will be best for multimillion gallons per day plants. Factors connected with location, such as fuel costs, weather conditions, and waste disposal conditions, can determine which of several conversion processes would be the most economical to use. [Pg.5]

Neighbouring transport installations (roads, rails, waterways) are to be regarded as external hazards, if the increased risk is caused by the trafiic conditions in the vicinity of the establishment (e.g. traffic density, traffic routing, type of transports, weather conditions). Under certain circumstances civil and military air traffic is included. [Pg.138]

Install and remove tire chains as required by weather conditions. [Pg.933]

By the correct choice of resin system, sheeting can be manufactured which will not yellow to any extent after exposure to tropical weather conditions for several years. However, to ensure that this is the case the resin system must be chosen with care and must be fully cured. Also the release film must be removed before installation and the laminate should contain not less than 75% by weight of resin. In other cases the resin content of the laminate may fall between 65 and 75% by weight. [Pg.239]

Today, PV systems are calculated with a lifetime of 20 years and more ideally this value should be reached by the storage device as well. Taking German weather conditions into account, battery systems would have to provide 3000-4000 cycles within this time span for typical system configurations. When lead-acid batteries are used for this purpose, in most cases only a depth of discharge of 50% is allowed [15], which means half of the installed capacity remains imused. This results in 3000-4000 cycles for the net used capacity but only in 1500-2000 fiill cycles for the installed capacity. [Pg.305]

Install the liner in fair weather conditions using installers, certified to an appropriate scheme (see Sect. 9.4.1) and monitored by well experienced CQA inspectors with the objective of achieving a wrinkle-free and undamaged liner (see Sect. 9.3.1 and 9.3.2). [Pg.447]

Radar. Radar is an essential component of any vessel that operates offshore. Navy vessels and many pleasure boats have radar. Larger vessels often have several. Aircraft are guided by land-based radar installations, known as airport surveillance radar (ASR), located at civilian and military airfields. An ASR tracks airport positions and weather conditions in the vicinity of the airport. [Pg.1224]

This publication is applicable to fixed open-type offshore production platforms, which are generally installed in moderate climates and which have sufficient natural ventilation to minimize the accumulation of vapors. Enclosed areas, such as the living quarters buildings and equipment enclosures, normally installed on this type platform, are also addressed. Totally enclosed platforms such as those that are installed when weather conditions are very severe are outside the scope of this RP. [Pg.137]

A radiometer is installed in the European weather satellite METEOSAT at a geostationary orbit of 36 000 km altitude over equatorial Africa imaging the Earth s surface with a resolution of 2.5 km in order to monitor weather conditions. The camera system with an aperture of 400 mm has to resist very large temperature fluctuations during the change from direct solar irradiation to the shadow of the Earth and must also operate for many years without maintenance. [Pg.202]

Investigation of the influence of weather conditions during installation (the weather was from dry to extremely rainy, and then snowy and with temperatures below 0 °C) and for long-time measurements at time intervals. [Pg.294]

In harsh operational conditions environmental factors can affect the performance of DP which can lead to loss of the position control abiUty. For a Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU), loss of position without safe disconnection could result in critical damage not only to the well, but also to the subsea equipment. For an Offshore Support Vessel (OSV), loss of position could lead to colhsion with the nearby installation during operation or to damage to the subsea fadhties. In order to increase the safety and reliabiUty of a DP system, it is important to identify and quantify all influence factors and the way that they can affect the DP performance. For example bad weather condition is an effective factor on the position reference sensor or the local position reference system. Such operational conditions can vary from place to place and may have a dynamic nature in a specific location. Moreover, it is important to investigate safe recovery back to position, safe disconnection and reconnection when the loss of position is outside the safe operational range. [Pg.743]
