The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) NFPA is non-profit organization that publishes the National Electrical Code , the Life Safety Code , the Fire Prevention Code , the National Fuel Gas Code , and the National Fire Alarm Code . Many industries and large facUities cannot depend solely on pubhc fire departments. A lot of effort is needed within private organizations to ensure adequate fire prevention and protection. Specialist health and safety training is normally needed for activities that are not related to a specific job but more to an activity. Examples include first aid, fire prevention, fork lift truck driving, overhead crane operation, scaffold inspection and statutory health and safety inspections.
