Evaluation of data

The analyze mode display is similar to the scan mode display used online. Analyze mode includes functions for evaluation of data, e. g. markers, measure functions, zoom function and selection of cross-section views. In addition, A-scan data can be reconstructed into images and displayed. 

As we should remember now, we distribute the objects into subsets in accordance with some criterion, not having known even the number of subsets themselves. That is why the evaluation of data complexity is still a challenging problem.

With the Industrial Revolution, life became more complex but it was not until World War II that reliability engineering was needed to keep the complex airplanes, tanks, vehicles and ships operating. Of particular concern was the reliability of radar. Prior to this time equipment was known qualitatively to be reliable or unreliable. To quantify reliability requires collecting statistics on part failures in order to calculate the mean time to failure and the mean time to repair. Since then, NASA and the military has included reliability specifications in procurements thereby sustaining the collection and evaluation of data build statistical accuracy although it adds to the cost.

Such an expert system can also be adapted for the evaluation of data in the published literature. However, this point raises a number of practical questions. Supplementary information on many RMs/CRMs may also exist in the form of publications in the open literature, describing their production and recommended uses. That information should also be consulted by the users. But users must be aware that some values reported in these publications are indicative only and may lack the complete evaluation of data that eventually forms the certified value. The final major continuing project is the Solubility Data Project, which is sponsored by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). The project has been underway for several years, and the results are appearing as a series of volumes of the "Solubility Data Series". The collection, compilation, and evaluation of data are being carried out by a large staff of experts in each area on a world-wide basis. The first eight volumes have been announced for 1979. Evaluation of data on subjective reports on reasons for smoking indicates that women smoke for stress reduction and men for stimulation (Best and Hakstian 1978 Frith 1971 Spielberger 1986 Ikard and Tomkins 1973), implying that there may be gender differences regarding the motivation for smoking. However, the validity of self-reports is questionable and empirical evidence based on physiological measures does not support these observations.

The TGD (EC 2003), Chapter 3.6, addresses acute toxicity, provides guidance on data requirements, evaluation of data, and dose-response assessment for acute toxicity. 

Quality planning in a laboratoiy is the process needed to meet the laboratory s quality objectives. The majority of extreme data were received from the universities. It was evident that the switch-on, inject, switch-off approach was applied (likely by the students) without critical evaluation of data produced by the computers software. Better data accuracy was obtained for polyamides [154] and for oligomeric polyepoxides [155] than for the unproblematic poly(dimethyl siloxane)s and even for the most simple polymer, polystyrene likely because only experts measured the latter difficult samples.
