Atmosphere pollution prevention

Smog commonly refers to air pollution it implies an air mixture of smoke particles, mists, and fog droplets of such concentration and composition as to impair visibility, in addition to being irritating or harmful. Smog is often associated with temperature inversion in the atmosphere that prevent normal dispersion of contaminants. [Pg.419]

A number of the materials used in the rubber industry to prevent sticking of hot rubber compounds to themselves or machinery have a certain degree of environmental hazard associated with them and thus require controlled application. Petroleum refining also produces substantial amounts of carbon dioxide, which with hydrogen sulfide, corrode refining equipment, harm catalysts, pollute the atmosphere, and prevent the use of hydrocarbon components in petrochemical manufacture.
