Tumor-inhibiting

Enediyne antibiotics (Section 9 4) A family of tumor inhibit mg substances that is characterized by the presence of a C=C—C=C—C = C unit as part of a nine or ten membered nng... [Pg.1283]

Hydrazine sulfate [10034-93-2] N2H4 H2SO4, originally advanced by the Syracuse Cancer Research Institute for treatment of cancerous cachexia and tumor inhibition (221), now has Investigational New Dmg (IND) status in the United States. Clinical evaluations are under way at various institutions such as Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (222) and the Mayo Clinic. After extensive trials, hydrazine sulfate has been approved as an anticancer dmg in Russia (223). Chemical stmctures for estabUshed dmgs in the United States may be found in Reference 224. [Pg.292]

A scientifically evaluated and fully referenced data bank, developed and maintained by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). It contains some 8,000 chemical records with carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, tumor promotion, and tumor inhibition test results. Data are derived from studies cited in primaiy journals, current awareness tools, NCI reports, and other special sources. Test results have been reviewed by experts in carcinogenesis and mutagenesis. [Pg.304]

Keppler BK, Friesen C, Moritz HG, Vongerichten H, Vogel E (1991) Tumor-Inhibiting Bis (/1-Diketonato) Metal Complexes. Budotitane, cis-Diethoxybis (l-phenylbutane-1,3-dionato) titanium (IV). 78 97-128... [Pg.249]

Tumor inhibition rates in mice with Lewis lung carcinoma as well as sarcoma 180 have also been studied. While 52 displayed inhibition rates of 34.1% and 15.3%, respectively, against these two types of tumors, 56 showed inhibition rates of 42.0% and 37.6% respectively [49]. Nevertheless, such inhibition rates are still less than those observed for known antitumor agent cytophos-phane, which had inhibition rates of 88.6% and 87.5% against these same two tumors. Additionally, both 56 and 57 have been found to be neurotoxic [50]. [Pg.118]

Nagata Y, Lan KH, Zhou X et al. PTEN activation contributes to tumor inhibition by trastuzumab, and loss of PTEN predicts trastuzumab resistance in patients. Cancer Cell 2004 6 117-127. [Pg.324]

Capillary-strengthening, antiinflammatory, diuretic, cholagogic, dilates coronary arteries, sedative, tumor inhibition, antitumor, antidiarrheal... [Pg.286]

Coriolus versicolor (L. ex Fr.) Quel. Yun Chih Polysaccharides, poly saccharapeptide.415416417418 Antimetastatic effect, anti-lung cancer, tumor inhibition, against immunodeficiency virus. [Pg.60]

Ricinus communis L. Bi Ma Zi (Castor bean) (seed) Ricinine, ricinolein, olein acid, stearin acid, isoricinoleic acid, cytochrome C, castor oil.33-427-450 Cathartic, tumor inhibition. [Pg.141]

Scheinberg and Strand (26) have addressed the therapeutic effects of a tumor-specific antibody against the Rauscher erythro-leukemia. A dose response corrrelation between this antibody and tumor inhibition was measured. The dose response curve... [Pg.225]

Tumor inhibition at three levels of Camptothecin (CI T), ellagic acid, and MV-extract tested in the Agrobacterium tumefaciens-induced tumor system. DMSO was used in the same concentrations as that used to test its respective dosage for each test compound. Error bars are indicative of 1 standard error, n = 15. [Pg.20]

High-performance LC techniques are often applied to various fruit juices and drinks (158-161) to evaluate the antioxidative activity, which is attributed largely to the phenolics, such as flavonoids and phenylpropanoids. Analysis of food phenolics is gaining popularity with the growing evidence of possible health-promoting benefits of phenolics in foods, such as antioxidative, antimicrobial, tumor-inhibiting, free-radical scavenging, and other clinically relevant activities. [Pg.817]

Podophyllotoxin, a potentially lethal component of mayapple, blocks cell division and has tumor-inhibiting properties. Two drugs derived from it are approved for use in the U.S. Etoposide is used to treat testicular and small-cell lung cancer. Teniposide is employed with brain tumors and childhood leukemia (see Chapter 62). [Pg.136]

Table V shows an even more dramatic disparity between tumor inhibition and effect of inhibition on total binding of DMBA to DNA. Butylated hydroxytoluene and butylated hydroxyanisole cause inhibition of DMBA initiation of tumors by 53% and 28%, respectively. There is little inhibition of binding of DMBA to DNA by these compounds and in the case of butylated hydroxyanisole, and the 24 h sample for butylated hydroxytoluene, binding of DMBA to skin DNA is actually enhanced.
