To resolve the problem, personnel from the gasoline additive supplier worked with the customer to collect service station gasoline samples, customer fuel filters, and samples of gasoline from the retailer s local service stations and from the fuel distribition terminal. All of these samples were thoroughly analyzed. Also, January fuel delivery records were closely audited. [Pg.2]

All the major fragrance suppliers work with a large palette of both natural and synthetic ingredients. It is the role of the Procurement Departments to ensure a constant supply of quality ingredients into the fragrance warehouses and compounding factories. [Pg.294]

The zinc/graphite composite bath, which is based on a modification of a conventional bright acid chloride was developed by a plating process supplier, working with the Ford Motor Company. The deposit resembles a black phosphate coating and is specified by some car manufacturers for black fasteners used under the hood. [Pg.25]

In general, adding a middleman between suppliers and users does not enhance a supply chain, and it is therefore surprising to find leading, lean carmakers doing it. They have many different motivations. A consolidation center can shield the factory from dealing with overseas suppliers with lead times in months. The consolidation center is then a domestic supplier, working with the plant as if it made its own parts on a day-to-day basis. [Pg.377]

There are obvious benefits to be derived from consensus standards which define the chemistry and properties of specific materials. Such standards allow designers and users of materi s to work with confidence that the materials supplied will have the expected minimum properties. Designers and users can also be confident that comparable materials can be purchased from several suppliers. Producers are confident that materials produced to an accepted standard will find a ready market and therefore can be produced efficiently in large factories. [Pg.2442]

Additional development efforts eontinue to improve the eurrent pro-eessing of other forgings by working with our suppliers on the further optimization of properties and forging quality. In-proeess, nondestruetive evaluation of all rotor eomponents eontinues to be emphasized as a eritieal aspeet to produee quality forgings. [Pg.428]

An unannounced visit from a major supplier coincided with a group training session, which gave the Plant Manager the opportunity to brief him on the division s work in PSM. [Pg.156]

Working with an established Tier 1 supplier Houghton International, Ford selected a two-phase metalworking lubricant/coolant based on vegetable oil. In trials at the Dagenham Engine Plant Ford foimd many benefits ... [Pg.66]

A good example of the many successftil DfE Partnerships is the Furniture Flame Retard-ancy Partnerhip. Pentabromodiphenylether (PentaBDE) was the primary flame retardant used in low density, flexible polyurethane furniture foam. Due to concerns over its use and the fact that the chemical was found widespread in the environment and in human tissue and breast milk, PentaBDE was voluntarily phased out of production by US manufacturers in January 2004. The industry needed alternatives in order to meet furniture flame retardancy requirements, but did not have the human and environmental health and safety information needed in order to compare the alternatives. DfE worked with the furniture manufacturers, foam manufacturers, and flame-retardant chemical suppliers along with governmental and environmental groups to evaluate possible alternatives. [Pg.285]

The DOD and NASA programs generally involve an aerospace firm that works with material suppliers to develop a material for a specific performance goal. In addition, the Government provides some research and development (R D) funds so the risk to the materials developer is minimized. In a sense, this is a case of vertical integration in which DOD or NASA is the end user and manages the complete product development. [Pg.45]

Processors must work with equipment suppliers to determine the capabilities and limitations for the equipment to be supplied for all sections of the line. The four basic equipment categories and design strategies that follow the three principles listed above are the resin supply system to the line, extruder and screw design, die and downstream equipment, and optional equipment. [Pg.466]

Our immediate and long-term success is dependent on supplying our customers with precision machined parts and products that fully meet their needs, on time, every time, at a fair price. We know that we are not alone in this effort. We must work with our customers to get all infoimation necessary to make sure that we can understand all their requirements. We must work with our suppliers to make sure that all purchased materials and services fully meet the requirements. [Pg.202]

Engineering-resin suppliers will work with manufacturers using computer-aided design, engineering, and manufacturing methods (129). The time between product conception and marketing should be dramatically reduced. [Pg.278]

As part of the supply contract each supplier or subcontractor needs to provide a corresponding project and quality plan to identify and outline the procedures, standards, organization, and resources to be used to align with the requirements of the pharmaceutical manufacturer s project. The contractors and suppliers involved with GMP work should reference the project validation plan and identify the specific requirements that are to be addressed to ensure the appropriate level of documentation in support of the pharmaceutical manufacturer s validation program. [Pg.582]

Diet effects on cholesterol absorption and excretion measurements are usually not problematic but should be considered. Standard rodent chows from commercial suppliers work well in most instances. However, lot-to-lot variability in some micronutrients, such as phytoestrogens, may complicate interpretation of results from a serial study that spans several months. Semi-purified diets avoid this possibility. The caveat with semi-purified diets is that most have little or no fiber. Mice eat much less of these diets, have reduced gut motility, and less fecal output. [Pg.163]

We will work with our suppliers, carriers, distributors and customers to achieve similar product stewardship, and we will provide information and assistance to support their efforts to do so. [Pg.434]

Modification of the alternate design. Once the replies to the above questions are evaluated, a new design basis emerges. This basis is established by closely working with the supplier until an HETP is derived with which both the user and the supplier are comfortable. [Pg.574]

Isocyanates. Isocyanates in general are toxic chemicals and require great care in handling. Oral ingestion of substantial quantities of isocyanates can be tolerated by the human body, but acute symptoms may develop from the inhalation of much smaller amounts. The inhalation of isocyanates presents a hazard for the people who work with them as well as the people who live in the proximity of an isocyanate plant. Adequate control of exposure is necessary to achieve a safe working environment. The suppliers Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) have to be consulted for the most current information on the safe handling of isocyanates. [Pg.353]

If you receive poor-quality glassware, by working with your supplier and/or the glassware manufacturer, the problem can be resolved. [Pg.40]
