The average feed mixture charging rate, molar or volumetric, is fixed by the raw material supply or the demand for finished product. 

There are obvious benefits to be derived from consensus standards which define the chemistry and properties of specific materials. Such standards allow designers and users of materi s to work with confidence that the materials supplied will have the expected minimum properties. Designers and users can also be confident that comparable materials can be purchased from several suppliers. Producers are confident that materials produced to an accepted standard will find a ready market and therefore can be produced efficiently in large factories. 

Final Transactional Closure and Reconciliation of Materials and Costs Termination procedures should outline who will have responsibility for assuring residual activities, material shipments, and processing has ceased. All aspects of the material s chemical, mechanical and physical properties which are included in the specification should be capable of measurement and certification. For critical duties all material supplied should be fully tested and certified by competent approved, independent test laboratories. All items of plant should be purchased with material certification. Additional certification is required in cases where the fabricator, in manufacturing an item of plant, used techniques such as welding or heat treatment which may affect the corrosion behavior of the construction materials.

The specification sheets are generally made out by experts who know from experience what is important and what is not. For the neophyte, the best sources of information come from books and monographs devoted to the design of a single item, material supplied by manufacturers and various testing and standards associations, and articles appearing in journals. A large amount of information is available.
