Factual databases may provide the electronic version of printed catalogs on chemical compoimds. The catalogs of different suppliers of chemicals serve to identify chemical compounds with their appropriate synonyms, molecular formulas, molecular weight, structure diagrams, and - of course - the price. Sometimes the data are linked to other databases that contain additional information. Structure and substructure search possibihties have now been included in most of the databases of chemical suppliers. 

The RMDB consists of two mayor sections computer data storage and retrieval system, and backup microfilm data bank file. The computer data storage and retrieval system is used for die standard reliability and maintainability data listing, special calculations, and searches. This data bank system has been established to facilitate remote terminal access compatible with the GIDEP remote terminal programs. The microfilm data bank file is used for storage and distribution of supplier s documents, failure analysis curves, description of methods used in the collection of the data, and additional background information too extensive to include in the computer data bank. 

The study performed by Burns and Roe (BSR) shows that valve failures constitute the component category most responsible for the shutdown of PWR and BWR plants. This Investigation, contracted with SNL for DOE, identified the principal types and causes of valve failures that led to plant trips for the period from 12/72 to 12/78. The MSDSs are contributed by North American sources, many that are multi-national companies marketing chemical products worldwide. This database meets a growing international requirement for health and safety information on specific chemical products. It helps thousands of users worldwide manage their responsibilities under workplace, environmental and other right-to-know legislation. The MSDS database can be searched quickly and easily for product names and other product identifications, manufacturer or supplier names, dates of MSDSs, or any term used in the text of the MSDS itself. 

Muscarinic M3 Receptor. A pharmacophore model was derived from known M3 receptor antagonists, using the program DISCO, and 3D searching was performed by Unity 3D in the Astra Charnwood in-house compound repository and the databases of several commercial suppliers. The 172 compounds that fitted the pharmacophore were screened for their M3-antagonistic potency. Raw materials and auxiliary products used in a process as well as materials of construction for equipment items can be the eause of scale-up effects . Pure raw and auxiliary materials must be used in laboratory studies to eliminate the influence of impurities on the ehoice of the process route, catalyst selection, and search for satisfactory process conditions. However, pure chemicals are usually too expensive to use for manufacture on a commercial scale. It is common practice to use raw materials of technical grade in a full-scale plant. These materials contain impurities, which can act as catalysts or inhibitors. They can react with reactants or intermediates, thereby decreasing yields and selectivities of desired produets. Therefore, raw materials of technical grade, even from different suppliers must first be tested on laboratory scale.

Precondition of a successful electroorganic synthesis is an optimal arrangement of all incorporated components. Therefore, all available information from literature, supplemented, if possible, by results of own experiments, should be considered. The best way to get actual information about suppliers of materials and equipment - that probably may be very quickly changing-is the Internet via a search engine. 

Theoretical calculations can also provide physicochemical data, which can be used as an input for 3D-QSAR correlation studies [134,141]. There is a current trend in the area of lead-finding in the pharmaceutical industry to use calculations to set up computer search profiles to be used in the screening of large structural databases, such as the chemical suppliers databases and the internal company databases.
