Market forces determine the demand for a product, and the demand will be used to forecast the sales of hydrocarbons. This will be one of the factors considered by some governments when setting the production targets for the oil company. For example, much of the gas produced in the South China Sea is liquefied and exported by tanker to Japan for industrial and domestic use the contract agreed with the Japanese purchaser will drive the production levels set by the National Oil Company. [Pg.346]

Global ethylene capacity is predicted to increase from 114 to 145 million metric tons (mmt) from 2004 to 2010, and the Middle East s share of the market is expected to grow from nine to 17 percent (Fig. 7.3). This implies that about 40 percent of new ethylene capacity will be built in the region. Major capital investment projects are already under way, including Sumitomo s joint venture with Aramco of Saudi Arabia. Aramco-Sumitomo will take over Aramco s oil refinery and crack 1.3 mmt of ethylene and 50,000 tonnes of propylene a year, together with 850,000 tonnes of propylene from a separate facility. Although currently a minor player on the Far East petroehemieals scene, Malaysia has a strong and growing petrochemical sector with a nameplate ethylene capacity approaching 1.7 million tonnes per year. Led by Petronas (the national oil company), Malaysia has attracted over US 7.6 billion since 1997 and a further US 5 billion is committed from 2001. [Pg.25]

The petroleum sector in each Emirate is controlled by the government. The State Petroleum Company of United Arab Emirates is known as the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). This includes three oil and gas operational companies, five service companies, two transport companies (sea transportation), etc. The main wells are in Abu Dabi-Asab, Beb, Bu Hasa and Al-Zakum. [Pg.194]

Nevertheless, all these chemical-transformation processes are ventures that require large-scale investments. For this reason they were not the first to be developed by the national oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela (PDV), which rather decided in favor of less capital intensive, but technologically more hazardous, emulsified fuel manufacture. On the other hand, more than 60% of the current Canada bitumen production (25 million tons per year) is upgraded into light synthetic crade (19). [Pg.458]

This is how Orimulsion was created (10, 63). Owing to the special characteristics of the product, the national oil company PDV created a new subsidiary, Bitiimenes del Orinoco (BITOR), which has been in charge of flie manufacturing, quality control, and marketing of the product. [Pg.460]

Qatar Petroleum (QP) is the National Oil Company of the State of Qatar. Following the reeent developments of its natural oil and gas resources, QP has become the world largest supplier of natural gas produets. QP operates its associated gas treatment and separation plants and exports natural gas liquids (NGL) and condensate. QAPCO has integrated its new product line and QP now processes the chemically derived propane and butane products commingled with its natural gas liquids in its separation plants. [Pg.357]

The multinational oil companies such as ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, or non-Western national oil companies such as the world s largest, Saudi Aramco, have invested significantly in flow reactors, without which they could not really function in the contemporary market. To prove this point In 2010, at U.S. refineries alone, more than one-third, or exactly 35... [Pg.773]
