Standard development practice

The basic condition of the Standard application - the availability of stable coupled probabilistic or the multiple probabilistic relations between then controlled quality indexes and magnetic characteristics of steel. All the probabilistic estimates, used in the Standard, are applied at confidence level not less than 0,95. General requirements to the means of control and procedure of its performance are also stipulated. Engineers of standard development endeavoured take into consideration the existed practice of technical control performance and test at the enterprises that is why the preparation of object control for the performance of nondestructive test can be done during the process of ordinary acceptance test. It is suggested that every enterprise is operated in correspondence with direct and non-destructive tests, obtained exactly at it, for detailed process chart and definite product type, however the tests have long since been performed after development of the Standard displayed that process gives way to unification. [Pg.25]

One of the six elements of Responsible Care is the Codes of Management Practice, and one of the codes is the Process Safety Code of Management Practices (34). This code emphasi2es management commitment and accountabiUty, information sharing, and community relations, but also includes 11 of the 14 specific elements of the legislated process safety management standards developed later. [Pg.93]

A checklist analysis (CCPS, 1992) verifies the status of a system. It is versatile, easy and applicable at any life-cycle stage of a process. It is primarily used to show compliance with standards and practices by cost-effectively identifying hazards, chlorine Tar> <- liccklists provide commonality for management K.-, icw of hazard assessments. It may be used for controlling a proces.s from development to decommissioning. Approvals by appropriate authorities Cl i( V each stage of a project. [Pg.77]

Standard control practices developed within these limitations have taken all the various factors into consideration. Entomologists recognize the inadequacy of many of the recommended control measures. They have initiated the effort to develop new and more effective insecticides and welcomed the interest and assistance of others. The recent accelerated development of new insecticides has opened new fields and done much to stimulate public interest in insect control. Much more needs to be learned than to know that the new materials will kill insects, before their true worth can be determined. We must determine many things. Knowledge of the effect on beneficial insects, wild life, soil, and machines is important. Of greater importance is Are they safe for the operator and for those who handle and use the product ... [Pg.11]

Quality assurance (QA) is a generic term for all activities required to maintain quality in analytical results. These include laboratory management structures and sample documentation procedures, as well as the more practical sample preparation and analysis requirements (as described above). The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) develops standards across a wide range of areas, from screw threads to banking cards. The majority of ISO standards are specific to certain areas they are documented agreements containing technical specifications or precise criteria to be used... [Pg.319]

The Panel consists of 12 actively practicing volunteers representing medicine, nursing, and pharmacy. In the year 2000, a Safe Medication Use Committee will be elected to replace the ad hoc panel. For the first time, with the formation of this committee, a formal mechanism will be in place in the standards development process for the purpose of providing direct practitioner input to standards development for the safer use of pharmaceuticals. [Pg.152]

The owner or operator must inspect aboveground piping systems and all aboveground tanks the inspection must be consistent with a consensus code, standard, or practice and be developed by a... [Pg.103]

Standards Third-party standards for AST fabrication have evolved significantly over the past two decades, as have various recommended practice guidelines for the installation and operations of AST systems. Standards developed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) have been perhaps the most predominant guidelines—in fact, ASTs are often categorized according to the UL standard that they meet, such as a UL 142 tank. ... [Pg.141]

The National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE International) has developed the following to protect the soil side of bottoms of on-grade carbon-steel storage tanks NACE RP0193-01, Standard Recommended Practice—External Cathodic Protection of On-Grade MetaUic Storage Tank Bottoms. [Pg.142]

The uranium heap leaching technology is an ex situ adaptation of a 20-year-old heap leach mining (i.e., of gold, silver, and copper) technique used to treat soil. Each soil/contaminant chemical treatment combination is unique and must be developed separately. The equipment required for field-scale uranium heap leaching is basically the same as the equipment used in standard mining practices. [Pg.757]

To remove the green color from lemons, the standard Florida practice is to hold unwashed fruit (washing retards color development) at 15.6°C and high relative humidity until the chlorophyll is removed and the yellow color predominates (126). [Pg.202]

The approaches described previously can be used to relate biomonitoring results to a reference population or to workplace exposures, but they do not evaluate the risk associated with the amount of a chemical found in the body. To do that, one needs to develop a relationship between biomarker concentration and toxic response, a relationship that is not commonly derived in standard toxicologic practice. The following sections outline methods for deriving such a relationship. The approaches include the ideal case of existing risk assessments based on biomarker-response relationships established in epidemiologic research. Lead and mercury are used as examples of cases in which exposure was quantified according to hair or blood biomarkers and dose-response associations were developed on this basis. [Pg.183]

The first round of key comparisons in these fields was largely completed by the end of 1999 and showed that gas analysis, elemental analysis and pH measurement are already rather well developed and mature areas, whereas organic analysis, for example in the clinical and food areas, requires more attention, in particular with respect to sampling and sample pretreatment which are often the major sources of uncertainty. As regards sampling which is even more important when field measurements are linked up with national or international standards, comprehensive practical and theoretical knowledge is available, especially for particulate material sampling [7], which can be used where applicable to improve the comparability of chemical measurement results. [Pg.77]

These special characteristics do not by themselves preclude a transition of hydrogen into the consumer economy. But they do imply that the safety practices and skills that have evolved through many years handling of other fuels cannot be applied uncritically. Developing the unique safety codes, standards, and practices to support any emerging hydrogen economy will thus become an essential public task. [Pg.126]
