Shelf-life stability

The formula of a liquid flavouring usually comprises the list of ingredients and a short summary of the corresponding blending instructions. At this stage the solubility of the ingredients in the carrier system is of high importance. Additional criteria can be summarised under the headline of shelf-life stability. [Pg.477]

The modern food industry is confronted with the consumers increased requirements concerning their final products. Apart from product safety, further crucial characteristics such as colour, flavour, texture and sensory stability are important issues for the evaluation by the consumer. Thus, the requirements for the flavour of the final product are increasing. This requires extensive knowledge in various fields. [Pg.477]

Apart from simple handling and easy dosage, a constant high product quality and a guaranteed shelf life are absolutely essential. That means that the taste of the food products has to be constant during the entire product life [59]. [Pg.477]

Test, control, and reference substances used in worker safety and reentry testing also must be verified for their shelf-life stability prior to (or concomitantly with) use in a particular study. This means assuring stability... [Pg.155]

In recent years, specific requirements with regard to shelf-life stability and tailor-made release behaviour led to the development of a range of specific encapsulation technologies such as glass-encapsulated flavours or seamless capsules with liquid cores. [Pg.485]

This is a preservative-free formula shelf-life stability is achieved by maintaining pH of the suspension above 9.00 through the addition of magnesium hydroxide. Absence of preservatives makes it a more palatable formula but requires extra care in the manufacturing process. Rigidly control the microbial specification of all ingredients. Thoroughly clean all equipment and rinse with 1% sodium hypochlorite solution before use. Finally, rinse with purified water. [Pg.96]

At lower oil usage levels (20% - 307o) gum arabic and starch octenylsuccinates performed equally. High oil levels (greater than 407o) showed marked differences in surface oil content of the powders, with the starch octenylsuccinates out performing gum arabic. Less flavor oil on the surface of the powder will help improve overall shelf-life stability. [Pg.52]

Another important aspect of encapsulation efficiency is the resistance to oxidation that the carrier imparts to the flavor oils. The oxidation resistance properties are critical to shelf-life stability of the encapsulated product. Oxidation properties can be measured organoleptically by a taste panel or by gas chromatograph of the recovered oil. Peaks related to oxidation products of orange terpenes obtained from GC analysis can be monitored as the powders are aged for three days at 80 C. The GC was used to measure beta-pinene, an oxidation product of orange terpenes. The results are reported in square inches. The greater the area for the beta-pinene peak, the poorer the oxidation resistance of carrier towards the orange terpenes. The data is presented in TABLE 5 ... [Pg.52]

Optimization of pentacene TFTs for mobility has led to some very promising results, but implementation of pentacene circuits in product applications has been limited, because of poor understanding and limited data on operational and shelf life stability in different circuit architectures. A notable exception to this is the implementation of Philips pentacene active-matrix backplanes in Polymer Vision s... [Pg.37]

How much Conway appears to be out of touch with carbon (electrochemistry research is confirmed by his discussion of a 1972 paper by Thrower, presumably published in J Electroanal Chem anyone familiar with Peter Thrower s expertise—and that means any serious carbon researcher—knows that such a paper cannot (and does not ) exist. Finally, in the light of recent proposals regarding the edge chemistry of carbon surfaces [6], Conway s conclusion that [m]any porous or powder[ed] carbon materials have dangling surface bonds which are associated with free-radical behavior should also be viewed with caution (see Figure 5.4). Therefore, perhaps the most (and only ) reliable take-home message from this review is that much basic research of a substantive kind is required to relate the electrochemical behavior of various preparations more quantitatively to... Ruthenium-dispersed sol-gel thick-film electrodes were developed by Wang and co-workers [219]. All of these systems showed shelf-life stability in excess of 4 months and excellent selectivity over common interferents such as ascorbic acid, acetaminophen and uric acid. Based on this work, electrodes for lactate and amino... [Pg.2850]

The water activity of a sweetener influences product microbial stability and freshness. Fructose has a lower water activity and a higher osmotic pressure than sucrose. Syrup formulations may be made at lower dry-substance levels than sugar syrups without compromising shelf-life stability. It may be necessary to include a thickener or gelling agent to match the texture or viscosity of the sugar-equivalent formulation. [Pg.290]

Shelf life, stability data stability-indicating assay must be provided, and evidence of product s compliance with specifications during specified shelf-life periods should be shown. Vinylidene fluoride (VDF), also known as refrigerant 1132a, 1,1-difluoroethylene, 1,1-difluoroethene, vinylidene difluoride, etc., is a colorless, nearly odorless gas. Unlike the other fluoromonomers, VDF has long shelf life stability and does not self-initiate unwanted polymerization. Therefore, VDF can be stored, and shipped pure or with polymerization inhibitors. Its properties are summarized in Table 1. ... [Pg.2379]
