And usage levels

JECFA originally met annually, but in recent years began meeting biennially. This program was intended to obtain international agreement on the acceptability and usage levels of food additive chemicals, in order to protect consumer safety and facilitate international trade. [Pg.47]

Flavor potentiators find wide usage in food products. Vegetables, sauces, soups, meats, and other savory foods constitute the major food applications. Typical food products and usage levels are presented in Table 11.5. The ability of the flavor potentiators to impart viscosity, drying, and fullness is a useful property in soups,... [Pg.326]

Pesticide Dispersants. Modified ligaosulfates are used ia the formulatioa of pesticides, la wettable powders, suspeasioa coaceatrates, and water dispersible granules, they act as dispersants and prevent sedimentation. They also act as biaders ia the productioa of granular pesticides. Typical usage levels ia these types of products range from 2—10%. [Pg.144]

HES containing 90% fmctose is used in low calorie or specialty foods because of its high sweetness and, therefore, reduced usage level and lower caloric value. Crystalline fmctose is essentially pure and used at a level that provides sweetness at a lower caloric level than other sweeteners (qv). Initial use was in diet and nutritious foods but appHcation has now been extended to many other food areas, such as powdered beverages, dry mix desserts, dairy products, and confections. [Pg.294]

At lower oil usage levels (20% - 307o) gum arabic and starch octenylsuccinates performed equally. High oil levels (greater than 407o) showed marked differences in surface oil content of the powders, with the starch octenylsuccinates out performing gum arabic. Less flavor oil on the surface of the powder will help improve overall shelf-life stability. [Pg.52]
